Who is gonna miss Classic EQ , when kunark releases?

I'm pretty damn excited for Kunark. I don't think I'll miss the pure classic since when I played, Kunark was the bread & butter of my EQ experience. When I think EQ I think Kunark, and to a MUCH lesser extent, Velious.

And despite that, there was a LOT I never did in Kunark, so I'm pretty excited overall.

Kunark is thebest expansion in my opinion and feels as classic as it gets. can't wait myself.

I am not looking forward to Kunark.

The population right now is great. When Kunark releases everyone will be spread too thin and its going to ruin what is so awesome about this server... which is that you can actually play the game as it was intended. Second, They went way overboard with the loot in Kunark. When the best weapons in classic EQ can be replaced with yard trash, it's ridiculous. 3rd, raising the level cap and introducing new, uber gear makes epic encounters in classic trivial, and that's just sad.

Not looking forward to it. I mean, I'll still play, but I think it's going to ruin an epic server. Once people can't find regular groups, they'll start begging to be allowed to 2 box so they can actually play... and it's all downhill from there.

I agree totally. The thing I hope to counteract some of the stuff we think will be true. I just hope all the people that quit playing come back. Server pop goes to 900 or something. This would def help. I hope to god they never allow 2 boxing. Itll fuck up the game so hard. I will miss classic tho. Im ejoying every moment I can on my rogue and bard. I know the end of classic era is near. =( upperguk wont be the same. Ill miss you classic honest I will. I love you forever.

Basically how I feel, especially about the population. We need a few hundred more peeps when Kunark hits.

The devs could just open up a new server with each new expansion for those who want the wipe. The expansion would be applied to the current one of course, but for those who wanted a fresh start, a new server could be implemented.

Kunark means we are one small step closer to my favorite expansion of EverQuest: Velious. I say bring the Kunark. Most of my best early memories are old world + Velious. I never personally cared for Kunark, but then, I was wasting a lot of time in my play style then too.

I'm glad to see the server moving forward. Kunark being released is a proof of this community. The devs wouldn't bother for an insignificant amount of players.

I think the reason alot of people are thirsting for it is because a majority of the people who started on this server have left. With the rest of us finding out about it much later in its life, it's frustrating when a portion of the few who have remained from the beginning have a stranglehold on alot of the content. We just want a chance at stuff that's perma-camped or poopsocked, and a wipe would set an equal ground instead of all of us *hoping* the *OG's* will move on or by having to play by their rules to get at content.

This is what I like to call the "Revolutionary's Optimism". They could wipe, and this "equal footing" would be gone in no time. I'm not uber. I was for a time in Live. I don't want to be uber here. It's a lot of work. That's what the folks on the outside looking in always forget. That's what the folks on the inside never forget.

Within a week, those with the time will be top of the heap again; wipe or not. Those folks will always succeed ahead of the curve, not solely because they really know the game and are good, but because they also have the sick amount of time to invest.

That's why games like WoW are ingenious because the game can make the hardcore uber players and the time-starved power gamers both feel like they are really good.

You and I my friend... we're time starved power gamers. I agree with your sentiment, and there is certainly merit in the perspective of "I got here late but I'm just as good". However, in my experience, this sort of talk is the territory of the sour-grapes crowd.

They wipe the server and I guarantee that the top 10% with the knowhow and the time will be the top 10% by any measurable means three months from now if they keep playing.

You do make good points which I feel are legitimate. IMO though after a wipe the number of people at the top would be reduced dramatically yes some would powerlevel back to 50 in no time, but alot would not and the limited budge room at the top would be a little larger. I don't feel like im "good" at the game and deserve better loots, I just want to experience some of the stuff that is being choked out for everyone else by the same 25 people farming for phat "Kunark loots".
