Definitely will be playing Rift. I've been having fun so far in the beta. It's a nice change of pace. The EQ elitists make me laugh, or the people who are too afraid to admit they're playing other games just to avoid ridicule.

Exactly man! I don't understand personally why people are so afraid to broaden their horizons.

The spell effects and character speccing looks cool though, but the videos ive seen don't really impress me or give me the urge to play.

Can't knock it, until you try it. If I had that attitude, I never would have played EQ Classic. I would have missed out on a lot of fun!

I have tried a lot of MMOs. Almost all of them suck which is why I wait for a free trial with 95% of them now. I am still waiting for that startrek online one.

I've played in some of the betas, got a mage up to level 34. I'm kinda digging it. It certainly feels a lot like WoW, but I don't think it's really accurate to say it's a WoW clone.

The class system is everything. You actually need to use thought to optimize your build, as opposed to WoW where you just close your eyes and fill up a talent tree and call it a day.

A note as of today that I found out. Cross Server LFG dungeon tool is coming to Rifts. There slogan "Your Not In Azeroth anymore" is turning out to be more and more of a lie. There gonna need cross server LFG when the game goes on life support and if it doesent we know what past game community will mainly flocking to Rift. Pretty soon youll be able to sit in a town and lvl up without ever having to leave. Pretty cool huh.

I'm actually really looking forward to checking out the open beta tomorrow. I haven't looked forward to playing a new mmo in quite awhile so I hope I'm not getting my hopes up for nothing. To those of you who plan on playing, are you going to play on a pvp or pve server?

At least they're taking the time to polish their game before release, have to give them credit for that in the mess that has been massive releases over the last few years. For the people looking for a WoW alternative this should be pretty exciting.
