Who even are you? Loot council is inherently biased because human beings are biased. I was once asked why I don't trust loot council to do whats best and I thought about it for a second. The real reason is because I wouldn't even trust myself in that position. I would 100% unquestionably favor friends and people I like more than people I don't if it came down to it. That being the case I feel like it's unreasonable to expect me to trust a "council" of internet elves to be fair more than I trust myself to be fair. It may very well be true that giving all the best loot to the tanks/clerics and the same core group of people is what advances the guild faster. Loot council is very good for that. But it very quickly becomes tiresome to everyone that doesn't fall into those categories. Unless you're one of those people that doesn't care if they ever get loot but I think most people would agree EQ is one of the most loot-centric games there is. The entire point of the game is advancing your character imo. It's not a mystery why DKP and other variations of the same type system is by far the most used system in all raid guilds. Time/Effort = Loot. Seems very simple to me.
That's irrational, unless you reserve your friendship for only the most talented and dependable players. It's not about fairness, it's about efficacy and benevolence. A guild employing loot council can shed members like a winter coat and not suffer. Conversely, it can take on members who might otherwise never get to experience the content that guild completes.

Coincidentally (Or maybe not?) I tend to make friends with the most talented/skilled people in the guilds that I'm in. Call me elitist or whatever you want but I can't stand playing with people that suck. Been that way since 1999 and I don't see myself changing much.

That's really besides the point though. The point is EVERYONE is biased and you're a fucking idiot if you say you aren't.

I'm not fighting. I'm not mad at BDA or leaving BDA or anything of the sort. I disagree with how loot is handled and the subject was brought up so I responded. Nothing more nothing less.
For a game which revolves around powering up your character is pixel possessions not 95% of the game?

Or do pixels on Phinigel not matter?

I wouldn't say 95% but yes acquiring loot to advance your character is a significant portion of the game to me and many others. Some claim it completely doesn't matter to them. I have a hard time understanding that standpoint but it definitely exists.

But you're in a terrible guild full of people who dont want to compete for pixels.

Delusional, simply put.

Please come back to P99.

We'll have another 6 hour guild leader summit to discuss the current raid scene.

Cause I forgot to say it in my last post. I think most reasonable people understand that all guilds have good and bad players. Has anyone ever been in a guild that had zero bad players? Even top guilds have some scrubs. There's no avoiding it completely. I just choose to closely associate with the better players generally.

There are pros and cons to both systems. In my experience I have dealt with more severe drama with a loot council. In a dkp system drama was more frequent, but more tame and usually about missing dkp, being bid up by other players, or disliking some aspect of the system. Good dkp systems usually require more leadership resources, and are very bad if your guild cannot or will not remove terrible players.

Personally I'd prefer one competent and respected person to hand out loot rather than a council. It works very well if the person knows what they are doing and are respected by the guild. Councils are more seen as more corruptable and there isn't a single person to blame if a bad call is made.
