Q: How to REALLY quit smoking?
A: Chantix Seriously, this shit works. It WILL make you quit. Just take the pill and go. Sounds crazy but it worked for me, and it worked for my fiance. We both were avid smokers for years but have been totally clean without looking back for over a year now. Some things to know: Yes, it is expensive. Even with insurance, you're looking at around $30 for a month's supply. Without insurance, closer to $100 I've heard. But, most people go through that in buying cigarettes anyway. Time to do a trade-off. Also, you have to stay on it for 6 months (3 months is an option and you may feel you don't need it anymore after that, but seriously stay on it for the full 6 to really kill any chance of relapse). Side Effects: A lot of them. I didn't experience much except vivid dreams. Funny shit, but its true. You may experience vivid dreams when you start taking it. But, they go away after a while. The really bad side effects are nausea (definitely make sure you take these pills with food or you will feel sick as fuck), fits of rage, depression, sudden anger, fits of rage. I didn't have these problems, but my fiance sure did. Holy shitbags, she was a walking roller coaster of emotions. She was next to impossible to deal with at times. I'd simply ask her what's for dinner and have to dodge a frying pan being thrown at me. However, the upside is that you can actually cut these pills in half and they will still be as effective. She did and it cut down on her "mental instability." (Thank God) In conclusion: If you can get past the side effects and the cost, I highly recommend this shit to ANYBODY. But don't just "try it." DO IT, and be married to your pills. Make an appointment with your doctor and get prescribed today! (Yeah, I sound like an advertisement but oh well) Good Luck! [You must be logged in to view images. Far as the nicotine addiction goes, it doesn't go away. 2 years and there are still days I want to light up. I quit coke, quit pot, they're easier.

The patches helped me. It's actually cheaper than weening yourself off the smokes. Just follow the directions, i.e. 21mg patches for a month, 14mg for 2 weeks, and 7mg for two weeks. But as someone said earlier, you have to have your mind right, or you're just throwing money away. Good luck. It's a bitch.

I think its funny that you thought that gum was nasty, and didn't want to take it, and yet you are a smoker. Umm.. that shit is way more nasty. Deal with the gum!
Or use the crutches suggested in this thread. Quit smoking, just do it. Get that crap out of your life. You don't need it, and you don't want it. You do? No you don't, *slap*. No, you really dont. <3
