I don't get why people think Socialism is such a dirty word though... but that's a whole other topic that most can't comprehend speaking about truthfully, or have any right speaking on it's behalf.

We are finally having a significant number (though not a majority) of voters who didn't grow up under the red scare. To most Americans Socialist=Communist and Commies are bad.

The key though will be to educate the public in a balanced manner, the senate leader of the democrats on live TV failed to even define the difference between a democrat and a socialist. This is because much like the Tea Party of the repubs, the democrats are creating their own 'radical progressive' movement even though its not publicly split. The issue with these radicals is that if they have their way a classical socialist like Sanders will be nothing compared to the full on Marxists who follow Hillary.

The political spectrum goes well beyond simple left and right, even up and down (authoritarian/libertarian) is still extremely simplified. Hell, I guarantee 95% of Americans if asked what a libertarian is would answer right-wing or republican.

They may answer in that light, hell I'm sure I've seen it, but I've heard Republicans refer to communists and socialists as Fascists. I see this shit every day! Sorry, fascists are on your side of the spectrum... but that's the typical intelligence of many of them unfortunately.

I don't like labeling myself, many label me as a Libertarian; I take no offense to that, and I share most of their ideas, but I'm a little different in some ways.

I'm not sure anymore. I consider myself a Socialist, part Anarchist, part Libertarian, but I'm also getting sick of government, rights being taken away, things Obama has done since holding office... so I may still be all these things; letting our government in more, but NOT this government we have today.

This is just one of the points where the metaphor, which 99% of people take literally, of a political dichotomy breaks down. The truth is that you're both authoritarians if you are able to define your position in terms of the left/right as they are known in the US (and elsewhere). I think it's pretty reasonable to call an American socialist a fascist, since that's exactly what a neocon is regardless of whether he lets you vacuum mistakes out of your cooch.


While we're throwing the word around liberally, I'd argue that a libertarian or ancap could be described as a proxy fascist too, since his philosophy is to create a vacuum that will be filled by corporate megaliths when they seize the right to extort profit by force of arms. That's why I'm voting Trump 2016.

I use to be almost right on the dot for Gandhi... but as I've aged, I guess I've become more "radical" in my thoughts. Also I've noticed as I've grown older, I'm holding some additional Republican views, at least when it comes to Government butting into our lives, and gun views.

I used to hate guns, wanted them abolished, but my Rep. friends changed my views on them drastically, and now I actually have a Concealed Weapons Permit. Basically, we need them to fight against an Unjust Government (which we will have to do eventually), but I mean... they're armed to the teeth. We'll lose, but when that times comes; I'd much rather be by their side (Republicans) than those from "my side".

I used to think Government was great, they would protect us, etc etc etc; but they don't, and won't. It's not profitable for them to do so in a Capitalistic Economy we have set in place. It goes much deeper than that of course, but our Government is fucked.


I dunno, I just wish we all could come together, but our media and government does not want that to happen. It's sad really.
