Detoxx my friend, you really should try doing something like this for VP on one of the lower tier dragons! Build up that goodwill where the rubber meets the road. Velious is coming, who knows what will happen when winter is here. People may be looking to side with the biggest and the best and the server needs to see how it's really done with the big boys.

You can get all the jewelry crafted stuff fairly cheap, in fact if you ask an Azure Guard officer we will craft some for you at the cost of the materials for this event. Tell them Nemce sent you and you want Mano making them. The other thing you're going to want to buy is a greater null potion. We also have a potion bot that can sell those to you as well. If you have an null potion, you want a haste spell like swift like the wind or something like that. Stay away from the VoG. If you are a fighter class a runed bone fork is a very nice and very cheap item for your ranged slot.

The best MR will be level 52

The second best MR will be 255

Others have suggested items. Throw in a bard if you really like not being feared. :P

There are no meaningful thresholds other than just the maximums? Sorry I don't really know EQ mechanics that well. Is the Magic Resist Stat just a linear increase in the chance for a spell to fail?

Certain levels provide an innate boost to magical resistance, most notably 52 and level 60. Raid level is often dogeared at 46 however, the real benefit comes at 52, 55, and of course 60.

Levels have a rather significant effect on spells landing on you. So if you're level 45 with 255 MR, you're likely to still get feared almost every time.

What I was trying to say, rather poorly (sorry!), was that if you're not 50-52, no amount of MR is going to save you.
