I mean really the truth is, if you are leveling you may see 1 or 2 fungi twinks, ever.. its not like they're there all the time. That said, the native XP bonus on red makes these interrupts seriously not a big deal. Like I said, Ive never asked for a rez.. its literately faster to just get back to leveling than it is to wait for your rez effects to ware off... So when you see a fungi twink, take the time to learn how to joust, how to move and cast, how to fight pvp without mob agro.. there is SO much to pvp that takes lots and lots of practice.. The fungi twinks provide a super valuable personal skill up in how to pvp. Primarily because in the 20's it still takes a minuet for someone to kill you unless you just stand there and let them back stab you. They'll be gone as fast as they came, and you'll be back to leveling in no time. And if you do get Yellow Text'd (PvP death, most of the time youll find they didnt even loot your plat, cus they are just accountants IRL that are playing a video game for fun with pals, not really billy the kid lookin to get famous.)

There was a short time when red was down and blue wasn't. The red trolls had a few minutes with nothing better to do so they hopped over to blue. If I didn't have enough of a reason to stay away from red, that was it. No wonder you guys got your OOC taken away.

If it's any consolation, you can easily be 50 + by June 1st if you find the right group and stick together.

I've only been on P99 for about a month now, splitting my time between both Red and Blue. I've been really enjoying my time on Blue, and mostly enjoying my time on Red. I was a hardcore DAoC, WHO, and Eve Online player, so I'm not new to PvP in general. Just a few thoughts from a new player on Red:
- The group xp bonus is really nice, and definitely noticeable. It's most pronounced when you combine it with a high ZEM. My melee characters are actually having trouble keeping all weapon skills at level. I've had to choose just two or three weapons to work on, so I'll have to skill up the others later. - Fungi twinks are really annoying. Example: In crushbone, one took on my entire group. It was like fighting a raid boss. We were all OOM and hurting, but we kept fighting. We got him down to 25%, and then he zoned. All that work and no kill on either side. It was actually a pretty long fight. The group xp bonus is nice, but it's offset by random periods of not being able to xp due to people like this, because they come back. The standard dungeons that people use for leveling on blue have these twinks more often than not on Red. Fortunately there are other places to go, but just take Faydwer off your plans for group dungeon crawling. Unless you find it fun to fight these guys. I bet they have a blast, but it's just pointless being on the other end. They should flag you when you engage in PvP so that you can't zone for 30 seconds after an aggressive act. At least then you'd have a shot at killing them. - PvP with non-twinks is a real blast. We fought for control in one dungeon with another group. They beat us the first time, but we regrouped and we eventually managed to kick them out and have the zone to ourselves. I wish there were more battles like that. Losing the first fight didn't even suck - it was motivation to come back. It's the only example of well matched group combat I've had so far, maybe there will be more at higher levels. I've had some one on one fights which are also fun. - There are some weird quirks of EQ PvP that everyone on Red knows, but that aren't published for newcomers in any concise list that I've found. Example - someone attacked my enchanter. I went to cast on him, he ran to the guards, my spell landed, and the guards slaughtered me for an xp death. I mentioned it in guild chat and everyone else knew about faction and guards, but how do you learn this stuff as a noob, other than by experiencing it? Certain spells don't work in PvP either, which you find out the hard way (if you're the one thinking you'll be able to rely on them). If someone could point noobs to a good list of what's different mechanically from blue, it would help out a lot. - My main concerns on Red are the low population and global OOC. There are some zones that are more crowded than others, so I can get past the population issue. OOC is another story. Global chat is nice for finding groups, but it's otherwise really distracting. I wish there were channels for LFG and auctions that were separate from it. Every few minutes someone is complaining about something, or criticizing someone, or talking smack, or exercising their right to free speech that somehow applies even in a fantasy world, and I'd rather just filter it all out. But I can't without also missing out on stuff that I want to see. So I put up with it, but I don't enjoy it. Anyway, I'll continue to play on both servers, but I hope this helps someone who doesn't know what to expect. Red isn't a bad place to play, and you'll see higher level content way sooner than on Blue. People are actually pretty helpful, they just do it in /tells rather than in public. Don't judge the server by the forums, I almost didn't try it at all after reading the forums first. To be completely honest, the only reason I even tried it is because I didn't have enough character slots on Blue to play everything. But I'm glad that I gave it a shot.

I'd have tried red a long time ago probably if it weren't for these threads. Can't do it now purely out of spite
