All this map talk reminds me of my highschool computer class. It was basically "look at everquest stuff for an hour" class.

Does a girl need maps? A man thinks she cannot read them anyway...

Print that shit out and light a bunch of candles and get immersed
I can't condone this. Candles are a fire hazard.

Boys can't read them either. Kids these days just use their smartphones. =\

My favorite maps here.
Always been partial to Ted Leo's Since You Been Gone/Maps mishmash..

I threw away my binder full of EQDiva/Everlore print-outs when I moved about three years ago. Terrible decision. Maps, spell lists and locations, epic guides... Rip in peace.

Right. Cuz looking off screen is immersive.[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.][You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

There are good arguments against maps, but "immersion" ain't even close to being one of them.
Yeah with all the connoisseurs of immersion around here you would think they would understand that alt tabbing or looking at a printed map is actually the opposite of immersion.

Different strokes for different folks. Personally I just reference them on a second monitor if I should ever need them, that's once in a blue moon though. At this point I know that shit like the back of my hand. Regardless though, I mean it really does make sense that someone can be more immersed by going to a binder of printed maps or hand drawn maps. I don't get the argument for having to look off screen taking you out of your immersion. I think the immersion most people are referencing here is getting back into that feeling of nostalgia not necessarily the immersion of being in the world itself.

Yeah I don't really think that's what people mean when they talk immersion as it relates to this game, there's another thread on the front page now full of immersion stories and nobody is taking about being immersed in nostalgia, they are saying the exact opposite actually.

I get what you are saying, but I'm going with myriverse on this one
