dont see why you're so surprised. It was always mentioned on the Red Dawn forums how Azrael could always take nilly on even numbers when discussing who to side with.

the only time azrael won 90%+ of fights was when we outzerged them for a short period of time, and whenever they caught up in numbers or outzerged us back we'd stop logging in

Man I must be really good at this game because every even number fight I attended we won. My superior heals and raid pre-buffing certainly enough to turn the tide.
