from the first episode to the second episode was like 3 years difference ... but the real ragnar lothbrok story lasts for a long time... but i bet vikings is gonna sum up ragnars legacy pretty fast and begin the journey with ROLO as he becomes king

I think the more important thing here is that Game of Thrones books are greater than the television adaption by far.
Emilia Clarke has been a terrible choice for Daenerys and the show is watered down.

While it's true that Game of Thrones can't be captured into a television show with such short seasons, at least the characters are far more believable than the ones in Vikings.

Vikings is not as well produced or scripted. It reminds me of that Sci-Fi show, Defiance. There's too many eye roll/typical moments where the content is clearly made for the average couch potato that doesn't want to have to think too hard, or think at all.

It also follows a very worn out formula of using a protagonist that's an under-dog or rebel, where they manage to out wit and out maneuver the oppressive leaders or the unfair system. By the end of the first few seasons of Spartacus and Vikings, I just wanted to see the main characters crushed into dust and the shows to end - the spoon fed 'misunderstood character with a valiant cause' nonsense became nauseating.

no denying the character depth in got is great!

I also heard this morning that the actress playing stormborn has said she won't do anymore "offensive" "innapropriate" scenes, no more nudity from her.

I would hardly say Ragnar is the underdog sure he starts a simple farmer and works his way up but he wasn't an underdog to start with. Was a great warrior great leader he really hasn't changed enough to constitute underdog yet

Books are always better than the shows in my experience. Well, with one exception so far. Hated the Dexter book series, LOVED the show.

So why you hate Emilia Clarke as Dany? You should come and talk about it in the ASOIAF thread. I'm just curious because I think she's decent in that role. Would have hated if they'd kept Tamzin Merchant. Saw her in The Tudors and wasn't impressed.

Sorry for hijacking Vikings thread. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'm more interesting in the King of Wessex at this point. I don't recall an Ecbert for Wessex during this time period, especially one characterized as the character is. Alfred shouldn't be on the throne yet unless they're just condensing shit and changing some names.

thats what they're doing ... its not gonna be 100% accurate, would be hard to stick 100% to the story due to lack of detail and information from the time periods.. but so far they are doing a pretty good job ..

and Sirken. how can you not watch both shows at the same time... only 2 days i watch TV all week is thursday night for vikings and sunday night for GoT.....

i barely have time for Archer/GoT.

but then i have nothing really after that, so Vikings fits it nicely.

TELL, is season 2 still airing? or is it over now? and did u like it better worse or same as season 1
