Enough to get in the Alpha (And the only way I can do that now is the $60 version)
Here's a little thing about a player like me:
1) I only donate to winners. 100% success rate for kickstarters and this will be #20.
2) I'm already involved (and invested) in another MMO, which is City of Titans: The Phoenix Project, which is a resurrection of City of Heroes.
3) I want in on the Alpha because I think I, like everyone in P99, deserve some input in the creative process.
4) Played Tabula Rasa from beta to live, until a few months later when things went awry. It as such an innovative type of gameplay for its time(Voice actors using PG-13 words, dying aliens talking shit, crits coming more from skill than luck) but it failed, and I don't know if anyone learned anything they can apply from this failure.
5) Played Wang-guard from beta to live, and I loved it, but SoE or whoever absolutely blew it. Crowdsourcing is such a game-changer, where you're not relinquishing so much control of your "vision" by stupid get-rich-quick(but negate customer loyalty) MBA types.

TL; DR:

Zero.

Kickstarter is a GIANT scam. The name of the game? "I want to raise funds without giving up equity stake". It's crowdsourcing angel investment without giving up anything beyond some trinkets/novelties.

P99 supporting it just blows my mind. Unlike P99, Pantheon is a FOR-PROFIT gaming venture - they're going into business to MAKE MONEY. Why people pay money up front for small gifts instead of actual equity is mind-blowingly crazy.

Now mainstream Hollywood is doing it too. Boo hoo, we only have collectively billions of dollars how can we FUND THIS MOVIE? I know, we'll get 'fans' to shill out millions of dollars for no promise of equity and we'll reward them with a MOVIE POSTER AND A TICKET TO THE MOVIE YEAH!!!!!!

Scam scam scam I hate kickstarter and everything it embodies. I love programs that crowd source actual investment (KIVA) with returns because it allows people to be backed appropriately at an appropriate return rate. Giving cold hard cash for incidentals is akin to donating to NPR or PBS - $50 gets you this tote bag! Atleast NPR and PBS are public nonprofit entities, however.

Yes, I mad.

I can see your point, however I have supported a couple kickstarters and I'm not bothered by it. Of course, the amount I support is equal to what I believe the 'incidentals' i'll receive are worth.

I supported https://torment.inxile-entertainment.com/. I pledged $25 which gets me a digital copy of the game when it releases and I helped ensure a game that I wanted to get made, gets made. Worth it to me.

Now with some things I can see it being a total rip off if you pledge large sums of money. Those are becoming incidental and is indicative of the true flaws with kickstarters. Unless something is hugely popular and can garner small donations from many thousands of individuals then the only way to get large funding is to have a relatively small number of people make very large donations.

I have 0 problems supporting indie development or small projects that aren't going to be able to attract funding / be made without some cash infusion. My problem is when we have giant entities who are worth millions/billions already having kickstarters that raise millions -- and I would consider 'Pantheon' to be such an endeavour.

I have given to 4 kickstarter campaigns myself. They were all target goals of 10k or less, and all done as independent or close collaboration products. I have my name as an 'Executive Producer' on two independent films that should be making the circuit. I didn't do it for the incidentals, but to help my friends out.

Sorry to break it to you, but your Kickstarter record is gonna be tarnished.

Will not donate.

This is the kind of stuff I'd never imagine Rogean and friends would do. I certainly could never have imagined in my wildest dreams that they'd deny first week of Velious release unless we pay $500.

I might have donated up to $60 until I found out Brad was involved; I'll be damned if I'm going to be burned by Vanguard 2.0.

I will not donate until they introduce the graphic style. I would have to kill myself if I supported another cartoon bullshit mmo for kids....

and also Vanguard...

I donated $45.

Will put some more in as it needs the help and I would like a signed Poster for my man cave.

Not going to change my name to my P1999 name tho. Rewards suck. I'll never win a raffle, ever.

Not that I deny that Brad McQuaid is responsible for EQ and I obviously enjoy that, but he's no golden goose, so there's no guarantee that Pantheon is going to strike gold. I'd rather donate to P99 than to a much better funded MMO that *might* come out in 2017.

(Also, I put my money where my mouth is and donated to P99. Thanks again for the good times.)
