Best family dog I've ever owned is a little black bitch pug.

I'll agree w/ Arrisard on "The Catahoula Leopard". Awesome hunter breed! We use those on a pig hunts down here in TX and they are simply amazing.

Problem is they never leave that stage. They have all the worst puppy traits for life.
I read they calm down after a while. You just have to always have em on a leash unless they are fenced in. The females anyway...the males I heard are nuts.

I just got a Beagle pup and she has been good so far. Like all puppies, they will get into trouble and chew etc. I crate train her and she has been doing well evacuating outside, although she goes inside sometimes because I am not paying attention.
There was that, with mine, as well. When she was a few months old, she ate the bathroom door (a good 3-4 cubic inches of it). I'm not joking. But after she grew up, she was perfect.

Mine must have been broken. After the normal puppy stage, she was lazy, unless there was food or a squirrel around (squirrel=food). She was the runt, and although both parents were definitely Beagles, she looked more like a mini Basset.
