Zimmerman confronted Trayvon with words, Trayvon responded with his fists. Not only did Trayvon initiate the violence but he proceeded to beat Zimmerman while he was down, he then took it even further and began smashing Zimmerman's head into the pavement (potentially life threatening). To make matters worse, Trayvon had even allegedly made verbal cues that Zimmerman was a "dead man" after discovering Zimmerman's holstered weapon.
Even taking away the last part, erring on the side of caution and assuming that last bit is embellished. You don't need 'laws' to show that Zimmerman was defending his life in that situation.
Are you going to tell me that you would have sat back and let Trayvon beat your head against the concrete until permanent injury or death happened? Is that what you would say the 'moral' thing to do would be if you were in his shoes that night? Don't make me laugh.
Lastly before you say that you wouldn't of gotten into that situation in the first place if you were in his shoes, I don't want to hear it because the situation happened the way it did. Trayvon responded to words with his fists and escalated it even further all by himself.
@ Malice. Shut up please, I said I'm done with you. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Well yeah I wouldn't have been there because I don't make it my business to run around chasing people down at night with a loaded weapon to provoke confrontations.
Martin shouldn't have attacked him no doubt initiating violence is almost always wrong. But I certainly find it pathetic that this macho man felt he needed to bail himself out of a fight he was losing to a much smaller child with a lethal weapon.
Yeah Martin is no saint but people do dumb things especially teenagers and many people would react violently to someone essentially stalking them. I know I would it's a threatening action when you are just some dude and in no way affiliated with law enforcement. If some random guy WITH A LOADED GUN and absolutely no authority is following you for blocks that is certainly threatening behaviour.
And Zimmerman wasn't savagely beaten or anything I've seen people much more seriously hurt in street fights they didn't escalate to murder when they start losing. A couple bruises does not warrant lethal force in a situation not entirely but largely instigated by Zimmerman
