I don't like the word donations. I cringe everytime I see someone advertise with it when it's fairly obvious you are trying to provide a service to be paid. Why not be honest with customers and say flat out that you looking for cash. I play a Druid. I don't advertise ports, yet I will port anyone who asks if I'm not cureently engaged. I've temp-left groups to help people out. I don't expect any cash but I *never* hit the cancel button. People will pay for customer satisfaction without your untruthful advertisements.

When I say donations I mean donations. If I don't get anything I'm cool with that. If people want to give me a tip because of the amount of time I'm saving them, then great. I've gotten donations of 30gp before and donations of 300pp before. I never know what I'm getting (or if I'm getting anything at all) until the trade window opens. So I feel pretty justified using the word "donations". Even if I'm excited if I get that big donation from someone with a lot of plat, I'm not disappointed if I don't get it.

This fellow archival, is standing and /shouting druid ports for donations at SF ramp in Overthere.

He had been doing this for at least 4 hours, but that is neither here nor there.

I see him /shouting his services, I say, need aport to west commons.

I tip him 9p.

His response: "eeew"

He complained. he said most people tip him 20p - 100p.

This is my only character. I have maybe 600p to my name. He is /shouting in a zone for ports for donations. I give him what, to me, is a fair tip.

You don't NEED a port. There are boats. If you'd like to save your time, you should tip appropriately. I feel absolutely no obligation to spend one second of my time to port you because YOU want to save YOUR time.

That being said, I am often generous with my time to port people in frustrating situations to encourage them to move past it and continue to enjoy the game. When I donate MY time, it's on MY conditions.

You expecting someone to be generous to you because you are playing the same game is presumptuous.

9p doesn't sound like much...its not. The problem op has is that the druid was shouting ports for Donation, there was no minimum 50p donation simply for donations. For a new character 9p can be a lot when your scrimping and saving for that one piece of gear you want.

If the druid didnt want to port for 9p he could've said so, instead of spitting in this guys face...

If the OP didn't have 20pp to offer as a decent porting tip, they could have taken the boat.

I'm pretty sure the OP received the port, and the druid told him what he thought of the tip after the port. Then...the OP decided those typed words were enough to warrant a post in flames.
