Additionally, you cannot use your Xbox if the Kinect is not plugged in. Xbox will literally be watching you while you use their device. Microsoft also just patented an idea for software which would use the Kinect to determine how many persons are "using" the device and block content, or even charge extra for content, if more than the allotted persons are "consuming" their product. Shady... and horribly creepy.

The Xbox One will only allow the sale of used games at "participating retailers", but only if the publisher allows it. Truly what this means is when you buy a game for Xbox you don't actually own it. you are Licensed for the use of said game. Any game you purchase will not be your property, which is horse shit. Greedy ass publishers and Microsoft are putting this in place to make it so they are constantly milking a person's wallet to play games - even if you buy it used. Did I also mention that there are restrictions on how you can "give" and "loan" your games away.

That alone is enough for me to want to boycott the next batch of consoles. I'm a Playstation fanboy myself and have been for years...but this is too much. I hope the sales of new consoles are slow and make them rethink what they're doing, or will the next generation of kids not care and buy one regardless?

What's more, lending won't be available at launch, with Microsoft still "exploring the possibilities with our partners". You can only lend games through some asinine procedure they put in place. You won't be able to just hand someone a disc to play it, or borrow it. Again, they want your goddamn money.

I won't be buying another Xbox. I'm also pretty miffed at Microsoft about all this too.

I'd love to hear any gamer say that these are positive changes for the industry. Dark times ahead as profit margins are so heavily protected that we'll be suffering massively as a consequence.

Just when the PC game industry looked to be dying... I'd say its our only salvation. Is it possible to buy shares in Steam? I'd look into it. Definitey not buying an Xbox, and no interest in the PS4 from what I've seen so far.

I don't want to pay to go online, what bullshit is that? The majority of console owners in the UK are Xbox owners, so naturally everyone just pays up. PS3 has been good to avoid that, its the principle of it more than anything.

I completely agree. This is something the game industry has been pushing for for a long time. Its not just M$. This is what happens when EA and a couple of other distributors gobble everything up.

My last console was a PSP and that was just so I could play PS1 games. RPG and good haven't been used in the same sentence since the PS1, IMO.

as long as there's profits then they don't care. sadly, kids will berate their parents until it's bought, or buy it themselves (my 8 yr old brother knows how to buy things off of amazon or xbox store) because it's marketed that way. parents are losing horribly to advertisers and they, system and game devs, know this.

Note: You have to sign up for Playstation Plus in order to play multiplayer games online. No more free multiplayer. Still better than the xbox one though, I'd like to buy some used games please. What?! I can't?!

I am dedicated to PC gaming and everytime PCGamer does an E3 article that references the Xbox One they call it the Xbone. I enjoy it every time cause next it is going to turn out that the early adopters got Xboned and it will continue from there.

I'm by no means rich enough to afford both consoles. Playstation 4 is the obvious choice this next generation so at least it was an easy decision. WITH ALL THAT SAID I would totally masturbate in front of my kinect.
