Powerleveling will never be banned. Even if proven to be "not classic", which it is classic, but even if so people would just move on to other servers if it doesn't meet their time constraints. I always find it funny when people here insist on things being more "difficult" or "challenging" here. If little fantasy is that everyone will just start grouping again and all the low level zones will somehow just get populated by tons of players, I'm afraid you're quite dillusional. The server is already underpopulated as it is. People will go where their play time is best invested. If playing requires grouping with "idiots" and taking up to a year to get to max level, most players would leave for greener pastures. Thus completely defeating the original intent of you weirdos, to try to force people to group together, gonna be kinda difficult if there's no one here.

Also, the Meta is that XP is best either soloing or Duo/Trio with good players. Not full groups of randos.

All of those things can be changed, for a better Everquest server:

1.) Increased group exp
2.) Level restrictions on equipment and buffs, and how quickly it's possible to level
3.) Competition allowed, making full 6-person groups the most desirable thing for being able to control an area you want to fight in
4.) Dynamic NPC spawns and behavior, again making 6-person groups most desirable, so you have the ability to handle content that unexpectedly ramps up in difficulty
5.) Reincarnation system so people are constantly restarting their characters, keeping the low/mid level areas of the game active

Playing an easymode clone of a very outdated game is a bad investment. Most people realize this and would rather a game that rewards adventure and is more unpredictable and full of interesting interactions.

People can choose who they group with, and getting a character to max level certainly wouldn't need to take a year. Although if it did take a year, that's perfectly fine if people are having fun. Level is just an arbitrary number. It just shouldn't feel like a dull grind, which is part of why people feel the need to power level to begin with. When you read a novel you're enjoying, you don't skip ahead to the end. The joy and intellectual stimulation doesn't come from simply reaching the end. It comes from the whole thing.

it is really annoying to see people cheating at the game and not putting in the blood, sweat, and tears to get their levels....especially hate seeing bards running around with the entire zone's mobs while 3-4 guildies sit there as part of the group and just do nothing.

this style of play abuses the intent/spirit of the game if not the mechanics as well, and not to mention extremely disruptive to everyone else who wants to play it fair.

get a life you bard losers!!! to paraphrase some of my favorite skeletons out there...

"I really hate Bards like you"
You shoulda been around when we were doing ~200 mob chardok pulls on blue...

Was more like 150 mobs if you had a good pet puller, but ya that was crazy fun [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
