Last July 12th, Putin wrote an essay on why he is going to conquer the Ukraine.

Today, the ”right“ patriot of Ukraine is only the one who hates Russia. Moreover, the entire Ukrainian statehood, as we understand it, is proposed to be further built exclusively on this idea.

And we will never allow our historical territories and people close to us living there to be used against Russia.

I am confident that true sovereignty of Ukraine is possible only in partnership with Russia.

For we are one people.

To recap, the only reason Ukraine exists is because Nazis, these lands are all ours anyway because 300 years ago "Taras Shevchenko wrote poetry in the Ukrainian language, and prose mainly in Russian" and we're going to decide what happens to these people. And those people over there. We are one people.

China and Russia are making the same moves at the same time for the same reason. China would need to take Taiwan before they could take the south pacific, Russia would need to take Ukraine before they could march on Europe.

These are pre-emptive strikes to start World War 3. They couldn't possibly launch an invasion with ally troops in friendly neighboring nations parked on their doorstep. That is why Russia invaded and sealed off Georgia on the opposite side of the Black Sea and China took Hong Kong, Taiwan and Ukraine are simply the last step of their plan.

If we keep being trump style pieces of shit, they certainly can't count on the USA. Fortunately NATO is more than just the USA and the whole of europe is concerned. I think that Ukraine is stuck in the middle and their bossman has to continue to do his best to play the middle. They don't want to be a battlefield for these two "great powers" but it seems like picking a side will be very challenging. When you choose russia you choose not to be a country anymore, just a gas station or whatever. When you choose NATO you choose to be Russias enemy until they find a way to convince NATO to abandon you or vice versa.

Yikes. Obviously, I favor Nato.

Situations like this make me glad to be a nobody in the USA not a man with a target painted on me like the prime minister of Ukraine.

DONETSK, February 18. /TASS/. A powerful explosion rocked downtown Donetsk on Friday, the Donetsk News Agency reported.

"A car exploded at the parking lot near the government building at about 19:00," the office of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic at the Joint Center for the Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire Regime said on Telegram. (That’s the same time as in Moscow.)

The explosion was "heard across the entire city," the office said. Responders from the Emergency Situations Ministry are headed to the scene.

The statement also calls for citizens to "remain calm, be vigilant and avoid moving about the city."

That's the Russians blowing up cars in front of their own offices. I'm sure no one was around when that happened. No one important. I'm really surprised they didn't find a body close by dressed in a Ukrainian uniform. Too obvious?
