News paper, various other forms of media and simple word of mouth have been around for a minute. Plenty of weaponry and schools at the same time, just like you said. All of the things you just mentioned have been around with varying degrees of intensity.
True, but the 24-hour news cycle is relatively new.

Media is forced to gather as much info as possible to show round the clock. When there's a major tragedy, it almost gives them a break allowing them to focus on that one topic pretty much all day for a few weeks.

And they all do it at the same time.

Suddenly the school shooter gains the attention of the country. All eyes are on him.

In the past, media could only afford to highlight these stories for a minimum amount of time because the short length of their programs.

Now they can spend all day on it.

Makes the news more enticing for fame-hungry people.

I see your point but I am not sold. Just because its there all day doesn't make it more valuable. Before that 24 hour cycle getting your name in the papers was important, as much as society knew what was important. 1 story, 2 stories per week was popular and "fame". It just seems like its more important now, I guess that is your point yeah? perception.

But to put my own 2 cent here, these kids are young adults and teens.. if they are sitting around watching CNN then yeah they probably do have problems. I would rather be out skating, riding a bike, watching a movie or playing video game (before internet connections) than I would sitting around watching talking heads ramble. Gah I couldn't even imagine, it would most likely drive me crazy too.

Gavin McInnes talks about it. He advocates for grown men to get into random fights because it's natural.

Then again, he's Scottish. Also grew up punk. That could explain it.

Guys, just posting this reminder: The gunman in a school shooting is not the bully, they are shooting the bullies.

That is all.

(raise your kids better and the shooter will skip them)

Live long and prosper kids. I've had enough of this thread.
I'm 73 so you are kids. Old is something I have worked for all my life.
