The main thing the server needed was to not have a too-long beta phase. That was the most enjoyable part of the entire server by a long shot. Lots of awesomely gay guild names and people killing eachother as noobs all over the place.

Then it took too long to come out for realz and it seemed like everyone who wanted to play for fun was gone.

It doesn't matter if it was designed with pvp in mind or not, because they introduced pvp and it was great. Lots of the best things in EQ were happy accidents not intended by the devs.

Wiping is still not the answer.
