There are too many guns floating around, gov’t buyback programs are expensive. Most gun murders (or at least many) are committed by career criminal felons who are not legally allowed to own guns in the first place
In high gun violence areas, bring back stop and frisk. Get the guns out of the hands of the felons, and put them in prison for violating the gun laws regarding possessing a firearm
Too racist, too many legal issues. Ok second best is buy back programs to get them out of responsible people’s hands, which does reduce the total number of guns so not worthless, just expensive and nearly worthless
