Back in the day this counter-culture would be a mowhawk and bracelet-with-metal-studs wearing punk saying “F the man!”. This is now us, but I’m not into the look. Or the music lol

Back in my day, you used to be able to tell what a person was into based on how they looked!
Now you meet someone you think is cool and they start talking to you about how important mainstream media is to them.

unsunghero - I don't think the parties have really switched they were always both big status quo parties with the occasional new program for extra benefit to their one party specifically (because of handshake deals with private prison companies and similar deals) Republican party hasn't officially came out with their new rebranding I hope they take note of Ted Cruz and guys like him how everyone thinks they suck hard. If they don't have a good candidate to put against trump in the primaries they are gunna be looking stupid as hell. Worse comes to worse they should pay Dwayne Johnson for the role, 4 year contract with optional 4 year renewal, 100 million per year. Great acting gig and he can improv some too if things are going well enough no one is gunna wanna replace him mid-season. Ideally they get a real candidate though. If they can't beat Joe Biden then they aren't even trying and you can bet your ass the entire presidential election and usa politics is just here to degrade our morale so we are ready to accept megacorp rule. Plus doesn't it seem likely that we would elect a large body builder to be our president? Can you imagine him going on diplomatic missions in his custom huge muscle fitting suits with his super bright white colgate smile. It seems like the American thing to do right now.

And before Dems were all about freedom to live and do what they want, mostly just innocuous drug use kinda stuff, like the freedom to use pot. Now it’s conservatives who are big on non-drug freedoms, like the freedom to kill yourself by refusing a vaccine The Dems of 20+ years ago would have never trusted Pfizer, a company that’s paid one of the largest criminal settlements in history, to make a safe product and trust the politicians who invested their personal money in the company then mandated people to use its products. But now, it’s complete trust and endorsement of these very rich and powerful companies

Yeah, about the Pfizer thing is pretty hard to believe, but the big bucks $$ people have shown their hand and we're all still living peacefully so they must figure they can get away with quite a bit, because we take almost everything about our very wealthy lives for granted here.

But it's just a party platform not an actual belief. Trump started operation overdrive or whatever. Maybe he was just asking for more personal direct benefit from Pfizer and friends to promote the vaccine more heartily.
Who knows. | ||

Big Pharma may have indeed saved the country, because socialized medicine had no chance of creating and mass producing those vaccines on the scale we needed. I guess that could be enough for their redemption arc story. But I’m still surprised Dems flipped their position on them, because based on their track record, had the vaccine killed most people who took it, Pfizer would find a way to minimize their own liability and not care much, I’m guessin

Well in this case, the government has granted them total liability immunity which allows them to operate at maximum profit for this venture.
I wonder if any future common cold cures they can produce can fall into the covid / can't sue us category.

I read an article about Huey Lewis a couple of years ago. He explained he turned to typical old school rock-and-roll as rebellion against punk rock in the 70s. Punk might have seemed counter-culture to most around the country, but where he grew up in Marin County, it was the local mainstream for kids his age at the time.
