I've made the point a million times but it bears repeating: when your identity (and income) is tied to fighting "oppression", you have a perverse incentive to ignore any progress that actually occurs. It's called mission creep, and the same thing happened with feminism, and all the mission creep became intersectional. But your error is thinking the batshit crazy stuff that goes on at college campuses or on social media is what most people actually think and believe.

I think we need to be careful about painting everyone on one side or the other with a broad brush. That's one of the problems with the spread of social media and the internet. The loudest and most vocal people always tend to be the most extreme, which can lead all of us to the assumption that everyone on that side is that way or believes X, Y, or Z.

In reality, we're just hearing people who represent minorities of both sides (extreme left and extreme right) and we shouldn't let it color our opinions. It would be like basing your opinions of Republicans off of Ooloo...you'd end up thinking every single Republican is an uneducated conspiracy theorist which we are not.
