Trump is now openly urging the leaders of Ukraine and China to investigate his political rivals.

In an extraordinary press conference outside the White House – aired on cable news and attended by multiple journalists – Trump said China should investigate the Bidens, and suggested he may ask the country to do so. He did not explain what he meant by "what happened in China."

It's actually quite an interesting tactic by trump. But the problem lies not in whether the statements are private or public. The problem lies simply in the statements themselves, and if they are concrete evidence that he used his office for personal gain, or even extortion (in the case of Ukraine).

I'm not sure he gets that part.

Or, he's just spamming now to desensitize and dilute the impact.

Either way, the call and transcripts with Ukraine president Vlfgmerkic sure as shit point to both personal gain and extortion. I'm no young lawyer, but the 'duh' factor is pretty high there.

If for nothing else, the conspiracy theory pirates have latched on to the whole Biden & Son thing since disproving hard evidence is out the window.

He's just trying to normalize this sort of behavior so that the Republicans can attempt to portray the many investigations into his many shading dealings as standard partisan attacks during the upcoming election.
