Common sense tells you this is very convenient for both parties. Trump won the election and people were mad they didn't get their way. The left had people very invested and upset over the identity politics and realized they had a lot of momentum through celebrities and other news organizations. They wanted to make sure they won the next election.
It was a smear campaign for the get go. Policies democrats have voted on are now racist and bigoted under the Trump administration. Double standards are being set. Social media is influencing politics and warping the minds of those who call themselves SJ Warriors. Along the way Trump has pretty much shown the same affection to the left. The left hate him enough to find any possible scenario to impeach him and utilizing media and social media to fuel the cases. Its a dog and pony show. Trump wanted to blast Biden (of course). The left sees this as another perfect opportunity for a smear campaign to clutch the election, especially if impeachment takes place and there is literally no other Republican candidate that even would stand a chance at this time. The left and people like Horza want to make sure they silence any opposing party to the point where they don't even have a voice in the election. This is a bad thing.

You already have 20 different voices speaking, how many more do you need and would you be okay with any Republican candidate that is against immigration, doesn't support gun control, universal healthcare or tax increases running?

Trump met with Wayne LaPierre and asked if the NRA would finance his impeachment defense. LaPierre said he would if Trump promised not to pursue any gun legislation.
In return for the support, Mr. LaPierre asked that the White House “stop the games” over gun control legislation, people familiar with the meeting said.
