Actually, that's not really true. Look at the crime rate in poor white areas like Appalachia. Not all poor people are the same and there do seem to be racial differences across all income brackets. For instance, look at the homicide rate broken down by race and income. Even among the poor, it would seem homicide rates are much higher among our melanin enriched brothers.

Facts aren't racist. Blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime. That's not a racist statement anymore than 'most white people can trace their ancestry to Europe' is a racist statement. However, there are several conclusions you can draw which may or may not be racist:

Racist: Blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime because as a group they are inferior to white people and I hate them. Accordingly, I will judge all black people negatively based on this information.

Not Racist: Blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime due to a combination of factors including institutional racism and poverty, but most importantly a toxic, dysfunctional culture that predisposes them to negative outcomes. Accordingly, I realize this information should not dictate how I judge a black-skinned individual, because his narrative is not necessarily the same as that of his "race", and that would be bigoted.

When you come to realize just how powerfully somebody's culture dictates their beliefs, behavior, potential, and just general strength of character, it's easy to see why some cultures on Earth are so much more successful than others; why at one time Middle Eastern Arabs and ancient Chinese were miles ahead of their Western European counterparts, and why the revolution in empirical thought, scholastic achievement, and the Protestant ethic combined to produce the scientific revolution-- which created almost all the technological advances of the modern world.

The correct approach in this situation isn't to plug your ears and shout 'RACIST!' when somebody provides facts you don't agree with. Being unable to accept factual evidence severely undermines society's ability to solve these problems, and it's the hallmark of the conservative political legacy in this country to ignore evidence that disagrees with your values and motives.

You guys say something racist. Someone says thats racist. You try to educate that person that they are just saying racist for no reason. Repeat.

Just stop. We will never nor will we ever need to have a discussion about racisim here with or without bias. Its just not possible to have an anonymous discussion about it nor is there any reason to here. Accept that you play this game with a wide verity of people and some things you wont agree on. Great interview from this weekend with our future prez!! Notice the ROAR in the crowd when bill polls his own audience about which one they want as their next president!

Bill is skeptical about how Bernie will poll in red states.. but like myself, Bernie believes that he will take a huge portion of those votes because the issues that he talks about are the issues that are important to the vast majority of the nation!

Those are our shared opinion though, time will tell!

Right now is a period in time where we should continue to push the Hope & Change agenda we were all so excited about 8 years ago. Hope and change is an ideal, not something that we could just elect and then forget about, it takes time, it takes work and we need to continue to champion and fight for it, or it cannot and will not happen.
