if back in March trump had simply said "listen to the scientists and wear a mask" he would have won this election in a landslide

I pretty much only voted at all because everyone was calling me a draconian commie and stupid for believing in the fake virus lol edit: it is 100% the reason I voted, I legit would have sat this one out if not for the rhetoric this year.

It was suuuuuuch a huge opportunity to start ramping up nationalism around how fucking awesome we are, how awesome our scientists are, how awesome our healthcare is, instead he was super late to the party and waffled crazy hard and sowed division.

If he is too aggressive, the economy suffers = he loses If he is not agressive enough, more people die = he loses There was no winning situation for the guy, especially in a country that is majority democrat, and a media that is out to get him. I think looking back 10 years from now, we will all appreciate that Trump kept us out of wars, restored trade balance, and didnt cause the economy to collapse because of a virus that has killed (230,000)*.06 people.

There's also the other end of this type of thinking. So back before I started high-school my parents moved us to North Idaho. While many people were fine with just going about their business there was still a hefty handful that would go around spouting off any pretty nasty crap they could think of. Coeur d'Alene even had an Aryan Nations parade go down Sherman Ave. (main street). That was my first real experience with hateful shit in my life. Yea, I was pretty sheltered up to that point. So I went to college and got my degree. Woohoo, got a job offer in Salt Lake City! See ya Mom and Dad. They tried to warn me about life in SLC but by dam they didn't know what they were talking about (yes, I was a typical early 20 something that knew more than my parents) despite having lived their for the first 25 years of their life. HOLY FUCKING HELL!!! The shit the Mormons and Anti-Mormons did to each other was mind blowing. After finding out about life in SLC I knew my time there was limited. Fast forward a bit and a job offer in the PNW shows up. Awesome, I'll be designing airplanes for Boeing. No more of the petty crap of watching Aryan nations parade down the street. Don't have to worry about being fired because you have coffee on your breath. No more DnD sessions where the GM publicly calls Mormons "Shit stains that need to be taken out back and beat". Yea, Seattle area is going to be sweet. Seattle, open minded progressive area that's inclusive of people from different walks of life; except anybody that doesn't agree with their point of view. ie, if you're conservative/red/republican/maga/etc. the nastiness is pretty bad. Yes, I'd even say it's gone from "I disagree with Trump" to " WOW " There's nothing Trump could have done or not do that would swing people's point of view here. Washington is blue for the sake of being blue. Washington isn't alone either. I've unfortunately had to stop talking to my dad due to his point of view being more extreme than even CHOP/CHAZ members ideals. He lives on the other side of the country. Go visit the Seattle reddit and surf through the political posts. Here's a warm-up: Quote:
