I'm not even really following this conversation, but I say something to this effect all the time when people that know my financial situation ask me why I still work so much so it caught my eye. I just don't think I was born to be idle. Keeping up with the Joneses is the biggest trap I see my high earning peers fall into, because you're only really successful if others know you're successful?

Lowkey wealth and local philanthropy have been my aspirations since I was something like 19 or 20. I always wanted to go back to the shithole of a town I grew up in and make it better for the kids that have to grow up there because it had little to offer the youth. It was a hard road to reach those goals and it took about 15 years of busting my ass because I started with less than $1,000 in my bank account and a job at Applebee's. I do have to admit that I'm an outlier in my circles of successful acquaintances and friends as far as those goals go.

It was dumb, I could say capitalism rebranded slavery even.

But really, that is feudalism, communism/socialism is not what any of you think it is.. just the token word for people who can't think or do research, widen your vocabularies, use the real terms.

This is why Byue thinks he is right, the vocal minority of idiots who think they speak for America are really dumb, they think they are America, America is the greatest country in the world (I am a Canadian saying this..) but the vocal minority who speak for it are dumb as the mountain of dirt they live on.
