Criminalizing a bad habit throws a person away. We throw too many people away my friend, is soulless and ungodly. We mandate treatment, not throw people into prison where they become even worse

thanks pat daddy. with out going into specifics, I found myself some time ago in retrospect taking my safety very lightly one night in a way that could have ruined my life. expired tags, contraband. imprisonment would have been completely uncalled-for, and would have ruined the little dream I have finally found myself in. I'm glad nobody else in this state will be eating the crow god spared me.
Truth is, our system of incarceration constitutes a cruel & unusual punishment that is not really ethically applicable to anyone. the founders remembered the story of John Andre when they wrote that verbiage. What on Earth would they think of our racial-jungle rape gymnasiums?

Why do you get angry at an opinion? I do not know the logistics of the policy, I know we throw human beings into prisons where they are raped by men, treated like dogs, and come out worst and generally no one benefits, especially not our national debt and our collective sense of civics. Drug prohibition does not reduce drug addiction, crime, or violence. Hence why I cited Portugal. We’ve always fought a war on this or that in America. We keep losing them. Let’s try to help people, not bludgeon them
It might not work. Then we vote to change it. What else is the point of being a pragmatic democracy of north European Protestants who invented human rights, the peaceful transfer of power, and the Enlightenment? Why am I the one championing the values of your ancestors more forcefully than you do?

No way, Trump will concede
(Just kidding, he would never leave with an act of patriotism and humility)

This is where I lost all love for him. He treats our institutions and the culture of statemanship as lightly as he treated his opponents in 2016. He is *not* a statesman in any sense of the word, and I absolutely do not trust him to act in good faith once no longer beholden to a reelection effort. It was a long shot to try him in the first place, and condoning an encore is definitely beyond me. He will skip doing things because it's "not his job", since he wears the R hat. He lacks the magnanimity of a worthy Imperial ruler.
He has normalized a sort of ruling persona that bodes VERY ILL. We could wind up with a President Kanye because of this guy. Stop the bleeding.
