Halflings also get an EXP bonus, so with some effort and the right leveling route, one could maybe hit some camps faster than most other classes. Plus, there are quests like the WC cap that is always in demand. I'm sure there's probably tons of other quests they would be the best class for, given the right knowledge. Also track.. definitely a strong starting contender.. Too bad they just dont seem that fun in dungeons. I always think that I rarely /who all druid when it comes to grouping. They are fine though if already there =P I might end up as a Dark Elf Necromancer because killing guards is just so satisfying the whole way haha. I'd rather play as Iksar but mayybe the hide + FD might be cool instead of the occasional /q I remember doing many years ago

Halfling bonus is 5% so unfortunately it won't really make a difference. Is their track skill capped early in Classic? I can't recall.
In any case, it's a good starting char if you want ability to kind of do your own thing. Outside of WIS gear to increase your mana pool, you can root rot and animal charm essentially naked for quite awhile.

The jank in quarm was just too much. Not being able to mouselook in 3rd person was just an unacceptable thing for me.

I think having FV ruleset would be something new but still classic:
Firiona Vie Server Rules Firiona Vie was a unique server in EverQuest known for its roleplaying-focused ruleset. The server had several distinctive features that set it apart from standard servers. One of the key rules was that players could only have one character per account, and characters could not be transferred off the server. Additionally, the server had a restricted language system where races started knowing only their own language, and communication required learning other languages through interaction. This created a more immersive roleplaying experience, as players had to rely on emotes and group chat to communicate. Another notable rule was the absence of "no-drop" items, meaning most items were tradable, which encouraged trading and interaction among players. The server also had a "Trivial Loot Code" (TLC), which meant that mobs that were too low level to grant experience would not drop items flagged as MAGIC, LORE, or NODROP. This encouraged players to group and tackle content that was appropriate for their level. Firiona Vie also had alignment restrictions, which prevented certain races, religions, and professions from grouping together. These restrictions were designed to encourage roleplaying and create a more immersive world. However, these rules were eventually relaxed over time. In addition to these rules, Firiona Vie had a strong emphasis on roleplaying, with players expected to maintain in-character behavior and avoid discussing real-world topics in public channels. The server also had a reputation for having a more mature and friendly community compared to other servers.
