Hey unsunghero are you in support of a universal healthcare program, or public option of some kind, in American healthcare?

In theory it's a great idea but we would be shouldering a burden of like 20% sales tax to pay for it, and we would lose a lot of medical practitioners that would stop practicing if their pay was dictated solely by the government. Medicare and medicaid do not reimburse very well and that's basically what universal healthcare would be.

Something needs to be done though.

Do you have any study or information to corroborate this? I can imagine if I made 500k/y in the private sector and then the govt said I am a public employee now and I make 85k/y I may be a little resentful

But at the same time, we're bailing out students due to predatory capitalism... why not something similar for doctors?

It's been a while since I read about it so no I don't have the source.

All I know for sure is the current system of for-profit insurance being in control of healthcare is not working for anyone but the fairly affluent, and that's not sustainable.

And I wouldn't necessarily call student loans predatory. Sure some are but it's the fact that higher education costs too damned much that is the problem. Again, for-profit. It's all about the almighty dollar.
