It's scandals like these that worry me about researchers and university alum throwing studies and jargon at people as proof of needing funding or theories or what not

ESPECIALLY those with surprising, sensationalistic, or provacitive results

People can get so good at manipulating data that they can get away with it for years if not forever, likely in some cases

I am actually far more likely to trust a study that comes with a conclusion like "this is all really minor stuff, it's not a big deal". Versus one that comes with a conclusion "THIS IS A REALLY BIG DEAL"

It's just that cheating is everywhere. It's in sports, it's in chess, it's in literally everything

Why wouldn't be cheating or corner cutting be in scientific research?

I don't think there is enough emphasis in academia on the scope of cheating and classes on how to catch it within a particular field

Right now Cybersecurity is one of the most sought after tech careers, but yet catching cheating, security in other endeavors, isn't

Eastern Europe had the highest heat-related excess death rate and Sub-Saharan Africa had the highest cold-related excess death rate.

You think partisan Snopes and PolitiDemocrats fact checked that one?

To this day those 2 organizations are still too dumb to realize they show their obvious political bias by selectivity in who and what they choose to scrutinize

oh yeah if you ever want to figure out why some weird shit is going on, always follow the money.

cybersecurity is the modern vault, the safe in which we store our valuables, so of course it's going to be taken seriously.

scientists basically get funded with money that nobody else needed or wanted, so naturally they are going to cheat on their research because if they came out and told the truth then next year they won't receive grants and charity funding

like any other type of discretionary spending, scientific research is an emotional effort like giving money to charities or non-profits

shit we should start looking into charities for the homeless or africa, i bet you'll find serious efforts to make sure they stay poor forever
