People will then use shout to communicate in the zone. Who would use global ooc to talk to someone in their zone?
its just a habbit for me i use OOC to talk in the zone everything i dont know if its quicker to type out then the others or what but i never find myself typing /shout or /auc its always /ooc probably by habbit, i still think a General chat channel would be the way to go if its easy to add, if poeple want global ooc so bad its not hard to type /join general and then u have global chat with poeple who "want" it.

The best laughs and times I had on VZTZ were directly influenced by global OOC. There was a reason we had a community full of memes and original funny material.

It also provides something to do, as Searyx said, while sitting around waiting for things in Everquest. The population is like 180 now at peak times, the server seems dead and lifeless. Just add global OOC, if you don't want to see it then filter it out. I really do not understand the issue.

Yellow text inspires PVP, so what if it says the zone you're in when you die, in my opinion take anonymous out while you're at it. Big things need to happen.
Everything you said has been thoroughly responded to already.

Why not Just add a LFG channel where if people are LFG they join the channel so its like a global OOC and everyone wins, the people that want groups can join that and the people that dont want global ooc dont do shit. problem solved. GG.

No way am I reading 30 pages of this thread, but global OOC and yellow text should have been in from day 1, completely dropped the ball with that decision.

Bull, Gyno is spouting his racist shit all the time in there. And Japan can't do 1 irc session without saying it either. I've rolled a necro and a druid on red, it isnt the pvp that stops me playing, it's the community.

How about adding a Zone Radius Limit to OOC?

For example:
Your personal OOC is only visible to players within a 2 or 3 zone radius.

This way it is like an 'extended shout'. Limits how many people can read things such as locations etc. but still gives enough people to engage in an OOC chat. This also allows for many different zone radius OOC chats going on which might be an interesting dynamic (and possibly get some Chinese whispering going on).

This could also be done per continent, race etc.

What does finding a group matter on /ooc anyways if you cant get to that person? Cheaper gear, avaiability of ports, and a more mature presence on forums and in game is what we need, maybe augmented with a few events.

Have a week long event. XP loss from pvp goes to person or grp who scored kill, and maybe double it for kicks on the last day. Another cool event is tell us when manastone is about to be taken out of game. Give us a week notice and Guk will be like madison square garden. Theres stuff that can be done without doing this is what im saying and those things should be tried first.
