There might be a quest to pickup some ground spawns (like dragon rings tooths) and you need to be on it to get them before the next guy. Some quests have you click something in an area while you keep creatures off you that are around your level.

Very little to any downtime. Just run to the next quest and forget those fools at the last area. Hell, one of them even tried to speak to you.. that loser. He could have got the groundspawn first if he wasn't trying to say hello.
Wow is more action oriented and fast paced. EQ has you sit down to med or regain health. Barrens is an area known for "barrens chat". This is like East Commonlands chat or really any other place in EQ. People in WoW talk here so its memorable. I was once reported for talking in an area outside the barrens, I was roleplaying my troll hunter. The troll NPCs talk like Jamaicans so I was saying stuff like "Eyyyy Mon, we be killin deez bears". It offended some guy. | ||

I'd like more stories on this troll roleplay. Seems 10/10.

I will be playing Classic WoW in a semi-hardcore PVP guild. I've been pretty casual on P99 the last half-year or so but my prediction is this:
Project1999 will be crippled with Green99 + Classic WoW launching within a few months of each other. 750 people online as I type this - I imagine that drops a few hundred as the P99 player-base spreads across WoW, Green, Blue, and many years of Velious with no major content on the horizon or even announced. I do not think Green will bring in old players as much as it will just divide up the current ones.

Mblake81 is confusing many features that came much later in WoW with Classic wow.
I would say the appeal of WoW for most people though is that it's seen as a healthy middle ground between the brutality of Everquest and older MMO's, and the completely on rails experience that you tend to get in Modern MMO's. Classic WoW is a more skill based game than Everquest, the leveling doesn't require high skill but once you start getting into higher end dungeons and raids it starts to become much more mechanic based than anything in Classic EQ. Classic WoW also has a pretty decent PvP system that again is kind of a balance between EQ PvP where class balance is non existent, and modern MMO PvP where classes are mostly homogenized. It's mostly a rock paper scissors type game with Warrior>Rogue>Mage>Warrior that type of thing in terms of PvP, but again skill is much more important in WoW PvP, Eq PvP is predominantly about who has the most gear, WoW PvP while gear is relevant, skill is the more determining factor. WoW PvP is also not just restricted to the open world PvP that Everquest is, there are also game modes that you can join like Capture the flag, and King of the hill type maps, people hold 1v1 dueling tournaments, and eventually (not technically classic) they add 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 arena's that you can queue up for. Everquest is a very good game for social interaction the game forces you to meet people to be able to do almost any content, but WoW is a better game in most ways if i'm being honest.
