Which brings up another point. How much of the "mental illness" you so aptly want to point out comes from negative societal ignorance and peer pressure?

That'd be like calling a black person mentally ill for wanting to be a scientist in 1950.

Maybe the circumstances are dissimilar but the logic is pretty much the same.

I saw a DS9 episode where Sikso wants to be a "writer". And everyone says he's crazy for wanting to be something that society won't let him.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_Beyond_the_Stars

Its a fine example of magically logicicking that its harmful to want to be trans and than saying because society (DSM!) says you shouldn't its bad for you.

TBH - I'de rather be open about it and say what I want than live out the rest of my life miserable and wishing I would have said something about it. I was made fun of in middleschool horribly. Not because I was actually harming myself or I was doing anything harmful to anyone.

But because people FEARED my ideas.

Not to detract from Katrik. But seriously if you call this person a dangerous mentaly ill menace to our society?

They are far from mentally ill lol. Would hang out with them any day of the week, and not just because their pretty. But because they do what they want to do and feel good about it.
