Hasbin. If I could make a few suggestions as a seasoned Sona player. Drop warmogs... You already can heal a ton with W and the extra HP aren't good because you shouldn't be tanking damage anyway. Follow your carry and get in some good pokes/ults but NEVER find yourself in the middle of the fray. Rush Aura items and items with active abilities. (your team will LOVE you) For instance... Mikael's Crucible has an active BIG heal that you can pop on your carry to compliment your small heals. Locket of the Iron Solari give you HP (not as much as warmogs but still decent) and pops a damage SHIELD on your entire team if they are close enough! It can turn teamfights around in conjunction with you ult (or without it even). Also, unless someone else is going to build it, you should ALWAYS try and get Aegis of the Legion and Bulwark as either #2 or #3 item on your list. Also, for the much needed HP, Ruby Sightstone will give you enough. The Runic Bulwark (Upgrade from Aegis) actually gives you enough armor and Magic Resist that is far outclasses warmogs in defense, AND gives your entire team defenses.
As for summoner spells... Get Flash and Heal, or Flash and Exhaust. The reason for this is that when you are level 1, you can get plenty of hp/mana sustain with a 0/9/21 (taking the extra gold and gold on hit from utility tree) and having your starter items be: Crystalline Flask, Health Potions x2, sight wards x3. This will give you an early vision lead so that you won't fall to ganks. Sona has great Poke early game and drops off late game even if you build AP like you are. She's much more effective procing those aura items and just making her team that much tougher by being around. Not to mention that AMAZING ult. For runes I suggest Magic pen marks, flat armor seals, and flat magic resist glyphs with gold per 5 quints. Feel free to ignore this but I have rarely lost with Sona keeping these things in mind. You do need a good carry, but even without AP items you can still do some great damage and assist the team better.

There's some good advice in here, but there's also some bad stuff.
The rune setup is pretty good, and I reccomend it. There are some variations to it you can try. I'm a fan of swapping out armor yellows for gold yellows, and picking up armor reds, especially with no more HoG, and let's face it you're probably not going to be picking up Kage most games. It depends on the lane of course, but there is definately a lot of room to try different Mark/Seal combos. The starting items bit isn't useful anymore. Since patch Flask cost has increased by 120 gold and isn't really an autobuy anymore. I would go the old traditional route of Fairy charm, wards, pots. Crucibal active is "alright" but it's really outclasses by locket and shureliyas actives. Those are the 2 support items, besides aegis youre going to want to rush. If you for some reason just have tons of gold and can get a Crucible by all means do it, but focus on getting your core of: boots, aegis, shurelyias, locket. Don't bother wasting 1050 gold on upgrading Aegis to Runic unless your team needs the extra MR. You'll find in a number of games that aegis to be just fine. The biggest thing somebody new to Sona can do to really get good at her beyond building correctly and poking/sustaining through abilities is to learn what her autoattacks are going to proc based on what she's playing, and then using them accordingly.

Oh, and unless Riot pulls their head out of their ass soon and fixes oracles, or the enemy support is just going balls to the wall crazy with wards in your own jungle, don't bother with buying oracles. Just pick up some pinks and tell your top or jungle to grab oracles, they can afford it.

first of all, ty for the advice
is the shield on archangels not any good? I've been advised that archangels is probably the best single item, then work with some defense and hps.. I like the extra coz it gives me the ability to clear a wave without hurting towers or creeps.. i can also tank towers while the damage goes in.. it works out really well if the team picks up on how i play.. I started taking the flask on shen a bit but then heard they were nerfing it so stopped when i starting playing sona a lot. right now i take a fairy charm, 3 wards, and 3 mana pots (taking W first always).. when i go back i finish the tear and then prioritize boots and red eye. At that point, I start looking at hps, and to my knowledge warmogs is the most efficient hps? as far as runes, im using CDR seals and glyphs and health on marks .. have only T1 quints atm for sona, those are health.. i plan on getting the run speed quints my build is all about mana regen, CDR, and a huge pool of mana and hps so i can constantly cast and teamfight at the same time.. Works REALLY well sometimes when I get a good crew, but without that it's not so good with random pugs i think i always try and counter jungle around level 12-14 in prep for baron..

it's hard as fuck to keep an adc alive and keep vision decent on bot side while also trying to ping the enemy adc and it's support, which is usually a lot more tanky and disably than me, while also trying to think about sona's power chords and shit.. but i'm getting better at it.. i actually started using the +damage one recently, and i have used the slow several times trying to get away, but it's only worked once.. i need to work on the -damage one for enemy dps for sure tho.
