Classic PVP didnt have this crappy custom purple game mechanic about xp loss in pvp so people can zerg PVE in peace, either, did it.

You cant have a well put together PVP server by someone who hates what classic Rallos was.

He just summed up what Rallos was, PK vs anti-PK all day every day. I was an anti-PK, there was plenty of cooperation between us, and im sure the PK guilds worked together to accomplish stuff as well. That doesnt change that the classic EQ experience on Rallos was one of constant warfare. I could go to sleep at 7 in the morning on a saturday after a night of pvp, wake up at 2 in the afternoon and guild vs guild fights in Crushbone would still be going on. Instead of catering to both gameplay experiences, the cooperation and the constant warfare, he chose to try to remove the warfare part of the classic EQ pvp experience and replace it with this hybrid "PVP as a last resort" purple poopcamp xp loss mechanic.

He made his mind up about what he wants this server to be, and its not something that fleshes out a Classic EQ pvp experience.

Hes just not a pvper and that transpires in the way hes setup the server. Doesnt have that pvp nose to emulate the really fun epic stuff that happened on Rallos, notably the Halloween event of 2001 where you had 205 players in eastern Karana/other event zones killing each other over event mobs that dropped nodrop loot on an item loot server. The organic way that Anti-PK guilds defended each other against PK players to try to down those event mobs, the sandboxiness of it all. Doesnt have that pvp nose to see that the constant pvp in EQ classic was alot of fun instead of viewing it as griefing and "hardcore". Took me 1.5 years to get to 44 because i spent so much time in each of the zones (Crushbone, Blackburrow, Nro, Oasis, Highkeep, etc etc) just having fun dukin it out for hours every day with other players. To know every inch of the maps where you could make an ambush because you fought there so often.

To me, grinding those hard, long 60 levels of PVE without some regular fresh air of laid back, pure fun pvp is whats hardcore.

No 6v6 duel comes even close to recreating something as fun as that classic PVP im talking about. No offense to Sirken, its still something.

And about YT: "It isnt classic", i could see the rationale there if he had an actual classic ruleset. But basically its touches here and there of P99 custom tweaks. Rogean just doesnt like PVP apart from being something you engage in once in a while to resolve camp disputes or some 6v6 duel events held every 4 months. Thats the main reason why it probably wont go in, not because it isnt classic. Im still persuaded though that it wouldnt change much. People would get excited at first but theres no way around the harsh xp loss, yellow text is not going to magically make people not care about having to grind tedious extra hours of PVE.

Exp loss needs to go. Most people ate three deaths at the event and as a melee that's half a yellow which is easily a two hour grind.

3 hours in a good group , huggies was more then halfway through 53 and after the fuckfest in ot , 2 pvp battles ( one in kc ) and event

Players loose 4ish% of a level each time they die in pvp? Wow, that does sound a little harsh. At least it prevents bindrushing, though, right? And you have increased xp so it must not be quite as bad.
