5/10. It was on par with most of the comic book adaptions. Superficial (only thing saving it was the source material), boring and childish (The Hobbit is a children's book as is childlike for that reason but not childish).
The Radagast scenes were horrible. They should've called him Drunky the Wizard instead.

It was somewhat enjoyable simply because I love fantasy and Tolkien's books but objectively it simply wasn't a good movie.

The goblin king voiceover, the randomness of the troll hoard find, and the wtf-ness of storm giants were really big breakers. Too much humor :| Where's Denethor burning Faramir alive in the hobbit eh? Granted, not as much in the source material especially pre-Murkwood, but still.

Sounds pretty much like the book. I haven't seen the movie yet but I've read the book many times, and it's completely different from LOTR. The giants are in the book, random and wtfoutofnowhere. Tolkien himself said The Hobbit does not fit in with his grand creation, so it contains a lot of fantasy elements not found anywhere else in his middle-earth writings except the beginning of The Fellowship, which was originally written as a sequel but didn't take long to abandon that notion and become epic instead.

maybe its because i didnt read the books, or because i just enjoy movies but i think 5/10 is pretty unfair. this movie was better than all the other ones produced so far. not once did i look at my watch or go buy more popcorn cuz the shit was so damn slow/not interesting. radagast was awesome and alot of people on rerolled.org said he was done really good. hes not drunk btw hes on shrooms, well at least thats what one the white wizard said. guess some people just cant be happy [You must be logged in to view images. The Hobbit was great! IMO many of the negative critics of the film can't get LOTR out of their heads since they have seen it SO MANY times. When they see LOTR characters, scenes, and music in the Hobbit they are quick to dismiss the movie as second rate.

I really enjoyed it! Radagast and his rabbits were hilarious. I really enjoyed the filler and additional backstory.
