I never played on a pvp server in eq but I have in everyother mmo I have played. I think the pvp adds a fun mix in this game and from playing opening night I'd say I'm hooked. I would say if your good at making friends and can brush off insults it is a great atmosphere to play in. The caveat here is that if you take what is said or the actions done to seriously then you will not have a good time. So my suggestion to you is if the things you see on the boards bother you I would just stay away from the server. Good luck on your endeavours -Unleashe

I would really like to see red99 guilds created and populated by blue players. This would be best.
And I felt targeted because many of my eq friends/old guildmates are the sorts of people you attacked in your op. They're not bad, they just like messing around. | ||

I hope some of you blue players will stay. Although I believe there are more than enough red players to sustain red99.
You will either convert or be butt hurt like OP. PVP is fun. I just hope that y'all have enough sense to see humor and not just insults from us VZTZers. True pvp doesnt happen at lvl 2, this is just beta. Dont judge PVP from the last 2 days. | ||

As someone who played classic EQ but never PVP i am loving this server right now. I have died at the hands of another player far more times then i have a killed a player but the difficulty that PVP adds to the game makes me feel so much more immersed in the world. I rolled a halfling and i have to strategically use Hide for example, just to get through some zones, or retrieve a corpse. I am thinking in ways i would never think on a blue server. And the community as a whole, will kill you without hesitation, but not one person has been insulting towards me or corpse camped me.
They will kill you if the opportunity arises, but not in a way that makes you not want to log in again. At least for me in this small sample size. The forums really don't do the actual play experience justice. | ||

The point is that the militant douchiness of a lot of the forum chatter here is not attracting new PvPers. It would be hard for me to be butthurt since I can't even remember my limited, decade old PvP experience on EQ. This also makes it hard for me to deliver credible criticism on PvP. However, I can criticize what I see here, and that is the unfortunate potential for red99 to be a screaming clusterfuck of personality disorders, whining and cheating. When we were all 14 it was cute but now I have to imagine the sad adult man on the other end of the line, and that might actually be depressing enough to make me not try.
I realize nothing I've said in this thread is going to make anyone like me, but hopefully I am directing some attention to the fact that a healthy server population is everything. You might think bluebies are spoon-fed tards but you need them more than they need you. | ||

Bottom Line: PVP is not for everyone.
I personally can't see playing any other way. I have always killed mobs to get loots, so I could kill players better with. I can't see killing mobs to get loots just to kill mobs better. The guys from these forums are good fellas. There is more humor in what they say than insult. Being condescending isn't going to serve you well. Stop judging and log in and kill the people you don't like. That's the beauty of PvP. | ||
