So a friend and I started playing this over the weekend. Neither of us had previously played, and it was certainly a lot of fun. What's the strategy in creating your deck though? He was playing black/white while I was playing red, which seemed alright. We both pretty much had no idea what we were doing, but we were learning as the games went on. Our matches were definitely close (although he proceeded to win every single match except one), which makes me think his deck was just better..?

I D K, give me some nerdy tips on how you assemble your decks / play your cards. Is one color set obviously better than the other..? I bought a couple of packs of cards this weekend, going to try to put together an ub3r l33t deck this week. I need to be prepared for Thursdays games, giev tips ~ ~

just installed it last weekend and won a M12 draft match despite having not played Magic in years

really fun doing draft tournies IMO. It's a good diversion while I wait for the red box release

also for newbie players I'd try a mono green deck to start


yeah it's easily countered by smart players but you will also rarely lose too badly (which you will if you try playing blue/black but don't know what the fuck you're doing)

I just started a couple weekends ago. I went to a draft this past Friday and got 3rd place.

The game is more fun if you don't get super hardcore into it (imo). Find friends who want to play casually and build a deck around a central idea. For example, my deck is all about using low cost creatures to put very high cost creatures into play early. My friend's deck is all about pooping out shit tons of 1/1 creatures and lands as quick as possible. There are definitely better strategies, but who cares as long as you're having fun.
