Same here. The dsetup.dll didn't work, nor did Uaellaen's resolution thing.

Nothing has worked for me yet either. The client is just crashing to desktop before loading anything with the windows pop up "eqgame.exe has stopped working" and then closing that error window produces "appl unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). I do notice that the new error code is different from what I was getting.

Ok, let's see if I've missed something.
Problem: trying to start the game gives me the (0xc0000096) error. Notes: - Not caused by EQEmuLauncher. It did that before I installed the launcher, and still does after. - The launcher seems to have its own problems anyway as it wants to patch 28 files every time I try to log on. - Error occurs whether I run the launcher or the eqgame.exe -patchme shortcut. Tried: - Deleting wsock32, dsetup.dll, eqgame.dll. Didn't fix it. - Tried copying over a fresh install of the game that I have on an external drive and frequently use. I've done this about half a dozen times, simply copy-pasting the EverQuest directory onto my desktop. You don't need to actually install the game. A new, freshly patched (to V14) copy gets the error as well. - That screen resolution thing made no difference. - The new dsetup.dll provided by Rogean made no difference. - Updating .NET framework made no difference, and I'm pretty sure I had 3.5 in the first place. Edit: dsetup.dll appears to be the problem. If I delete it and try to run eqgame.exe (not the patchme shortcut), it says it won't run because dsetup.dll is missing. If I put dsetup.dll back into the directory, I get the (0xc0000096) error when trying to run the game whether from eqgame.exe, the shortcut, or EQEmuLauncher.

Super post GreatDane. This is THE issue exactly!. Now some gem of a person is going to figure out a solution. I wonder how so many others were able to get it working. My machine is fairly new, 8 months. Wonder if it is a 64 bit thing?

Pretty certain I'm running 32 bit XP, and I'm having the same problems.

Are you guys still able to load on other servers with EQ's default dsetup.dll? The one that was in the directory before the patch. If you can it's probably a problem in the code and one of you will have to try and get a hold of Rogean in IRC.

So... anything new?
Could it have something to do with OS language? We're a few Danes who are all unable to start the game. In the interest of ruling that out, are any of you who still can't play using an English OS?

I could patch the other servers but could never get the client to start without eqgame.exe had to close.
Going to do a fresh install on my laptop this morning and see how that goes.

Everytime I try to start EQ the game never starts up all I get is
eggame.exe - Application Error The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000001d). Click on OK to treminate the application. I had no problems at all till this last update. I am running Windows XP 32 bit with on board video.
