Jesse, this is the state of these servers. There is one infamous player who has been camping Plane of Hate minis every spawn for the last 6 years on Green - and many more years on Blue before that.

Now that they are not considered raid mobs, and you don't have to zone back in when minis spawn - there is a group of players that have camped every spawn for the last year.

One player person camps Lodizal every day and has been for years - you'll see them auctioning Boots, Belt and Shield regularly. One person camps Stormfeather every day and has been for years - you'll see them auctioning Loot Rights to map piece. One player camps AC every day and has been for years - you'll see them auction Jboots MQ regularly. A few players camp Fungi King regularly and have been for years. Etc, etc, etc.

I think it's a sign of the times. Especially online, people have moved away from larger community and working together in favor of greed and perceived riches or wealth. The spirit of the server is not to work together to achieve - it is to take from others what they would take from you. Parallel to the rest of the internet.

The golden era of EQ, MMOs and Online discourse in general is over. We are in post-modern, mid-societal collapse internet era. It's ugly out there.

Your three options are:
1) Beat em
2) Join em
3) Don't play p99

The fallout from this truth nuke is going to irradiate this land for centuries.
It's shocking that people are willing to put up with this completely and utterly abhorrent game design. You shouldn't be allowed to permacamp shit for literal years.

I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it does shock me that the staff lets him monopolize Hate while flagrantly cheating.

Nothing would surprise me at this point. I just find it a bit odd that one guy has been doing this for so long. What is the benefit of that? Imaging wasting years of your life for one item in Hate. They need to change the rules. If not, you know there is something else going on.

I can't figure it out myself, either. I always assumed RMT when he sells the staves, but then one day (years ago back in 2022) I saw he had like 7.4 million plat on his EC toon. If it was RMT I'd have thought he'd be moving it. IDK, maybe he's got a hidden agreement with the staff? Maybe he is John Smedley who is doing it solely to jack up the price of mage epics?

He could still be moving it and just hadn't found significant buyers at that specific point in time.

Could also be taking discounts on the plat cost if you pay him a certain amount of real money.

It's P99 so the chance that's he's just a random person who has some sort of obsession/fixation with getting as much plat as possible for the rest of his life is not zero. But IMO there has to be some sort of RMT occurring somewhere.

Considering some of the pixel obsessed people I've met on here over the years this wouldn't surprise me.

Retirees and people on disability who just play 24/7 and take the game way, way too seriously.

I just cannot imagine someone being so hung up on a specific item that he has been mercilessly camping even since blue to just sell for plat for what purpose? Like, if you have 10mm plat in the bank and you spend all of your time doing this, when would you have time to even use it.

I kinda wonder what a pp > $$ conversion would look like...like 1kpp for $1? Then it makes sense that he must be doing some RMT. I've played this game since 1999 and I never remember someone poopsocking this hard for a specific item.

There is also guy in KC that just farms the T-Staff as well.

He's made well over 20 million plat so a lot of that platinum has to be going somewhere.
