EQ just doesn't have quite right camera angle and control like WoW and EQ2 does.
In those newer games its highly beneficial to be in 3rd person view to be aware of your surroundings, plus you can actually see how your char fights.

in EQ1 the 3rd view is so cumbersome, that I am eventually forced to go back into 1st person view (specially in dungeons and tight places)

I can't play in 3rd person. I especially don't know how anyone could quad using it. Whenever I run through trees, the view zooms in and out so much that I'd have no idea where I am.

I only quad in 3rd person. Try to avoid trees [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

First person, mainly for the immersion. Now and then I'll switch to third person when worried about random adds.

Back in the day I only did 1st person view. The immersion was awesome.

Now I'm poisoned by the 3rd person games. I always find myself switching to third person view so I can gather adds better.

Plus, the character models look bad ass.

First person all the way. I think it improved the immersaion as well as made you think twice about your surroundings.

Depends on the class. 1st as a melee, 3rd as a caster.
