I don't really mind the pet tracking nerf, but it could be implemented differently.

Pet tracking was kind of always cheese because the pet just tells you that the mob is up by saying "attacking so and so", but then it just sits there. It's clearly an unintended bug by the original devs, it's not like it runs accross the zone to actually attack the mob, so it's sort of a nonsense "mechanic." Plus it diminishes the value of the actual tracking skill.

Instead, leave the range at which it will run off and attack the mob the same as it was before, and just nerf the range at which it relays a "attacking so and so" message.
It's really funny how easy it was to fix this issue without fucking up the pet attack range. Lol

I've personally noticed no difference in the range from which my pet will engage, guess I spend too much time fighting in close quarters.

I just checked in on my mage, and honestly it feels longer than I remember on my necromancer pre-velious on Tallon Zek.

The main issue is this: When pet is at or near maximum range he will go to run in, but refuse to cross a certain line (pacing back and forth across the line until you move him physically forward to his target). It is resulting in
Trains from fleeing mobs,
accidental KSes,
non-responsive pets,
stuck pets, etc.

It was really easy to just remove to message output unless the target was within range, but instead now half the time I go to send my pet down a hall at something it just runs in place in front of me and gets stuck until I tell it to back down.

When the server first started, a level 39 fire pet could almost solo a specter. Now I wonder if a low 50s pet could do the same. Mages have been nerfed so many times since then its comical

A lvl 39 fire pet with buffs and usual gear/weapons SHOULD be able to solo a spectre. Never tried it myself tho. Just by virtue of being higher level than a specter alone it should be able to win vs 1.

I dont know why mage pets have been nerfed so much on P99, but frankly its absurd. necros can fear kite nonstop, enchanters can charm pets way stronger than a mage pet of the same level, and also never run out of mana, this in the context of actually fight mobs that give real exp.

Where does that leave mages. Our pets can handle high green, light blue mobs 1v1 Anything higher and the pet requires help. Which is fine, but you dont see necros and enchanters seitting for 3-5 min between a fights with dark blues.

The range thing is so fking annoying now. Enemy mob is 30 feet away. Sorry master, I am unable to attack that target....

Are the devs going to see this? are they going to listen and revert all these mage pet nerfs? No they will not. You know they wont.

And what about mages?

And its not just our pets, our nukes are nerfed too. Back in live classic, I would fire a lava bolt without a target and watch it fly all the way across a zone til it went out of clip range. And if there was an enemy in the path of that bolt, it would hit and do damage. All the bolt spells did that.

Bolt spells still have a long range, (But not that long) and I dont think u can cast them without a target now.

Don't forget they "appeared" to do double damage if the mob was on a hill.

Of course, im not complaining about how they function now, just pointing out that they were nerfed by p99.
