Soon, a dead game will be the same as a dead star system [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

AI powered NPCs would just be too powerful, raid targets would literally never get dropped. Mob would just target the clerics or people outside the CHeal chain. You think you want it, but you wouldn't really.

raid boss is too smart it kills the clerics

so we'll go negotiate and treat with another raid boss to come assist us on the first raid boss

i mean that would admittedly be frustrating in the moment but it seems like adapting strats would be the inevitable result and possibly kinda the next natural step in defeating the computer at the game.

nonwithstanding the idea that everything is wargames to a proper ai, but i'm just another shithead posting on the internet and don't fancy myself some kinda general. i don't buy the hype that ai is an apocalypse nor is it a panacea, but i also don't utilize it or rely on it for anything. it only reacts to that which it is fed, right? we can talk about who feeds it what, but human experience suggests it will be fed everything, ever.

how do we know it isn't our next, natural step in development?

(i realize i've mocked the concept of roko's basilisk on these forums but i was mainly just giving nerds shit for frightening themselves with hypotheticals)

We will see a lot more use of AI in the creation of games i.e. the environment, modeling, functions far before we see the actual NPCs in the game powered by AI.

In fact I predict we will see AI powered NPCs in the real world before we see them in the gaming world. If you're going to invest the time, energy, and money making full autonomous interactive NPCs there is a lot more business upside deploying them in real life than virtually. At that point incorporating them in gaming will be fairly trivial.

In terms of interacting/competing with AI in the gaming space I see it as being mostly focused on more binary or 2D type of gaming. Think Alpha Go, chess, checkers, basic card games. Things where the difficulty or competitive is driven by AI but not in a humanoid or character form.

It will learn that the best move is to not play and just stop spawning and then an unkillable NPC that you can hail for gear will spawn
