I can't remember for sure. Sometimes it felt like they only made bad choices for the server. They did ultimately make it a flat 4 level pvp range with no EXP loss on pvp death but the ruleset from on high was questioned from the beginning on the beta server. I don't even remember people asking beta to close there were all kinds of things that people wanted to actually BETA TEST before the server launch. The beta went for a long time with no few changes implemented, and then the server went live. For me I was caught off guard because I already gave up on beta and wasn't paying attention to the live launch and was really bummed about that.
One decision i remember was Sirken (bless his heart) nerfing xp during kunark saying something like "its going to be bad before its going to be good", roughly half the server quit (including me) and never came back.

The only events I remember crippling the server was Holocaust ban and then nihilum
Ban. Server ended with nihilum ban.

Sounds like the XP nerf was right in the middle there

I wasn't there for the Holocaust ban.

I was around for the XP nerf. That came ~ 6 months after an XP bump was accidentally left on for the EQ Next Reveal. Definitely took the pop down to +/- 50.

Nihilum ban was actually quite interesting to watch as a non-member. Seeing them split into the reforged Holocaust and God's Work and completely changing the server dynamic against Azrael (who initially had the upper hand) was quite invigorating for the playerbase.

Never forget the Battle for KC, which tested the true limits of the hamsters running the box.

The XP nerf dropped the pop from about 280 nightly down to under 100. When they put something back in (what we have now) it brought some back but a lot didn't come back.

Red server wasn't allowed to win.

I have played Blue, Red, and Green off and on since 2011 and this is still probably my most memorable moment on P99 period.

I tried to stick around after the Nihilum ban, even ended up joining Azrael for a bit which was a fun twist considering they had been the enemy for so long. But as you said the dynamic of the server changed too much with Nihilum gone and I lost interested.

Serious question. Kinda.

I'm sure between the 50 of us we have some money and knowledge.

Not all of us are on disability and welfare.. right?
do you think making a classic accurate server is something you pull out of your ass? there is a reason rogean keeps his code locked up.

I love final fantasy tactics love it can replay that game several times. You know what I can’t do load my save file with everything and just do nothing or the last fight. So the easy answer for you which will be hard to accept due to brug drain bramage is that people want fresh shit.

Tassador....read this back to yourself and then try to say someone else is on drugs.

Take a deep breath and step away from the computer dude. You've been making these incoherent posts like this for years. Jesus have mercy on you.
