Pardon my ignorance, but what was the bot doing? Casting heals on an NPC? I don't get it.

heals and buffs would land on a player character. But the bot is trying to cast offensive spells on the target (kill the NPC) and so it will not land on the targeted player. That is why it says "but you are protected"
