Force gamma lock too. I got gamma-locked unintentionally for a few weeks playing EQ and it was awful.

LOL, trying to get ppl to play on green over blue by badmouthing it, typical political move but it wont work, ppl have already decided by now if they are staying on blue or playing on green and most ppl i group with while leveling so far are sticking on blue cause t is their first characters and they see no point starting over when they havent even done end game stuff on blue, sure green will have a pop at first but once that new server smell wears off the only ones really playing on it will be ppl that already have tons of 60s on blue already.

When has that ever happened in any game?

People who are playing their first character are having a really shit experience on blue imo (I know because I am one of them)

1. Only 1 option for dungeon per level range (due to low level pop)
2. Velious gear twink makes the game trivial
3. Not looting any gear upgrades as you level or having any reason to do quests, because you bought a full set of velious equipment in the tunnel, makes the game boring
4. Nothing is unique/Nothing to conquer. Everything had been farmed for years.
5. All the UI/gameplay differences they've been era flagging that make the game more challenging. 6 buttons first person no tab cycling or pet window, you can't see in the dark, your gear sucks you die a lot, no ports for CR and your spider silk don't stack. That's classic everquest. And if you are just starting here in 2009 and not wanting classic everquest, why are you here? Plenty of great games out there

A lot of new players were introduced to blue EQ during this time. Green is going to be an eye opener. No guys with 6 level 60s stopping by to drop 200pp on a random noob or even 20pp. "get your own" is classic eq. Bound together by the hardships will give you a real taste.

There is a reason the boat is there. Dunno if there will be a DaP guild on green. Probably since its been established but its not classic. There were no fantasy business taxi guilds.

But hey.. you can always roll a blonde woodelf chic and shake your tiddies for donations. That would be classic.

If loramin took the wiki and split it all up and scattered it to like 20 different webpages and buried the info then players would get a taste of that too [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Yes, I tried p99 in 2003, I got to level 10. I came back about 6 weeks ago and leveled from 10-41. I have no qualms about ditching my SK. From my perspective he's dead to me. Maybe I'll be so attached to my green characters by the time they hit blue that i'll want to keep playing them but i suspect it is more likely ill do green 2.0 or just move on from p99

There actually aren't that many great games out there, the MMO genre is largely dead and most are bad. I play blue99 primarily for these reasons:

1. Creative freedom to create and outfit your character with varied and interesting items that can drastically change their power and abilities.
2. A challenging game world that rewards strategic planning and punishes recklessness.
3. Forced social interaction through grouping, trading, traveling etc that fosters a strong sense of community.
4. A persistent game world with meaningful travel.
5. A strong time invested vs reward ratio, rewarding players who invest heavily in the game world.
6. A large varied array of spells, abilities, items, etc that can be creatively combined in interesting and dynamic ways to create memorable encounters outside the static theme park encounters found in most games.

Notice that nowhere in the list is bad outdated UI design part of my core experience.

I am now playing classic WoW (in addition to p99) and it's refreshing to not be hemmed in by my UI constantly fighting me at every step, being able to see what I'm doing, and class balance that's more sensible (for example, Druids and Wizards not being completely useless) but it also is lacking in some areas classic EQ still excels at.

With all that being said though, I don't make demands of or hold anything against the p99 team who are excellent at what they do. It is their project and they can do with it as they wish [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Completely fucked up gamma is one of the most classic things in EQ.
