Thanks for all your help with this McBard. The file permissions all look good. I got this same error when I installed EQ directly with crossover and also when moving from NTFS file system so I dont think that would be part of the issue. Good thinking though.

As for the battery. I am not playing EQ while actually using the battery so virtualization taking up battery isnt really a problem for me. What I was talking about is windows actually ruining my battery. While playing EQ for long periods of time, while my laptop is plugged in, has taken a lot of life out of my battery. It is a decently new battery but it dies fast now like it has gone through 100,000 cycles. It a windows thing I guess.

corradojeff,

Were you able to patch the eqgame.exe file? I believe I ran the file, and it started to patch without adding the patchme being appended. This may have created a problem.

I'm having difficulty in CrossOver in adding patchme to eqgame.exe and having the file load, I keep getting an error. Humm?

Ideas?
Hey qqd, for P99 you DO NOT want to patch it. If it started to patch your installation is pooched. You will need to reinstall a clean version either way.

You need to have the patchme when you run the exe but you seem to be having the same issue as me. I can run the exe with the patchme in there but I get the error I explained earlier. I think I am giving up on CrossOver for now and I may come revisit it later.

GOT CROSSOVER WORKING! It isn't 100% yet but it is working. I deleted CrossOver 9 and installed CrossOverGames 8.1.3. All I had to do was create a winXP bottle then in advanced click "open C: drive in finder" then drag and drop my everquest folder from my working windows installation. with CrossOver open click on the "programs" menu and click "run command" browse to eqgame.exe and double click in. It should show up in the "command" line now. at the end of the file path (After the "" marks) add patchme then click run. BAM! it worked.

There are a couple of things that are still iffy but I am working on it.

- The mouse seems fine while in the menus and logging in but once you are in the game the mouse graphic seems to be off by about a 1/4 inch from where the mouse actually is.
- The top Mac menu does not go away so it is cutting off a decent amount of the screen. mainly the part where the ping meter is supposed to be so I cant get to it to move it
- You cannot play in full screen mode which isnt really an issue but you cant move the window around
- I cant figure out how to get the "F" keys to work as windows F keys they just do what the Mac funtions are

I will update when I figure it out.

.
Hold down 'function'?

One thing that's worth mentioning is that the sky doesn't work for me when running under Crossover... it's just black. Dunno if others have this problem.
