supply and demand and also the amount of platinum going into players pockets from actually farming mobs and selling gems counts. If youre constantly giving plat back to NPC's for reagents/recharges then there is going to be very little plat that actually stays floating around. Ever since the gem pinata's have been nerfed people not really sure where to farm money other than hill giants and a few other places.

its a virtual economy on a perma-classic server...the only thing that is changing is the players.

sure, time has a factor to play but only in as much that time changes players and how they play. time doesn't change the game itself.

the amount of plat in "circulation" is also something to consider, but aside from a general price level changes of some goods (enhanced by shifting player supply and demands) its generally not a game changer imo.

players on p99 have changed.

I am 99% sure the AoN price is artificially inflated. Guessing the same group is farming golems with 2-3 guys and keeping price up. AoN shoulda plummeted with increased drops after revamp.
The value of platinum has been directly linked to the AoN by the Norrath World Bank much like the gold standard of old America. The value is held steady to make sure our fiat economy doesn't collapse and the next thing you know fungis are used as toilet paper for ogres. This is why AoNs have been worth like 300kpp since basically forever and the price has almost never changed

Sadly, all of you are wrong.

The basis of p99 economy is based on currently unobtainable items. These items, such as the Circlet of Shadows, are the gold bullion against which platinum is weighed. However gold can only be made with iron or in this case steel and so you will find that the macro economy is forged in the Fine Steel. West Freeport is a Fine Steel City-state and sir Lucan dlere is secretly supported by the Dwarven Insurrection Brigade and their shipments of dwarf forged fine steel. This is why you see two fine steel weps on West Freeport guardd but it also is tied into the reason they have two eyes. We won't get into that atm because you need to understand that fine steel is the backbone of thus economy. The rarest and most desirable item is the unobtainable Evil Eye lens currently in my possession. I accidentally clicked one charge off if it while chained to t2 in EC in my slave elf whore but it's still in pretty good shape. You see, mama stone and beads are actually very common, heavily farmed items whereas my evil eye lens is the rarest item in the game and is usable to all classes and races and although there is another evil ey lens (2 eyes, 2 eyes in wfp guards, 2 FS wep,, do you get it now? So if you need to complete your eye set I am telling you I have got the other lens. I have received numerous offers from Gnomish Rebel forces to trade this Evil Eye Lens for shipments of 5000 Fine Steel weapons. These are most likely Kaladim Forged due to the Geotechnical map of Faydwer, of course. However Misty Thicket is actually pretty anti gnome and I can't be sure if these gnomes are really agents of king akanon, who I will not empower further. Though I could use those 5000 steel weapons to finally outfit a large army of halflings to reclaim Kithicor it would not be worth it due to the impact of my Evil Eye lens in the corrupt continent of elves. Would you have the gnomes take felwithe I would not and so I am now entertaining offers from any and all weapon dealers who are interested in the most valuable item in the world and can help me to arm the greatest coalition of halflings fighters Antonica has ever seen. The gorge will be ours. The Eastern Karanas next. And we will sweep like a furry footed plague across the hinterlands until we sack the. Economic capital of the world, the giants of Rathe. Vote Filbus Now to Reclaim Antonica!!

Now I hope you all see what is going on here and it is pretty obvious to me. Many many years ago, like in the 1950s they made these Lord of the Rings movies with the guy that played Magneto in X-Men being a wizard so pretty much the same character but it was based off books written in the 1400s and they had to destroy this evil ring but what has happened here on p99 is that the evil eye lense is the much like the one ring of power and has been sought after by many because it corrupts in its power and skarlorn has been corrupted like Gollum as he has held onto this evil eye lens for many moons and it has changed him so unfortunately it needs to be taken from him and destroyed. It needs to be destroyed by the very optometrist that created it so really we need to figure out where in this game there is an optometrist because I haven't noticed one ever so probably in Qeynos because I'm not sure I've ever stepped foot in that city on any character because come on its Qeynos and is a completely unnecessary place to be but lets get on this and make sure we do it right we are going to need a wizard, a human ranger and a human warrior, a dwarf warrior, an elf ranger, and 4 random halflings, doesn't matter which class because they will be mostly useless, but not filbus obviously because he is the guy that we have to shank first. Except the last couple months everyone has been trying to get 400k, look it up.

There's also a lot less plat being generated from people farming Seafuries
Hit the nail on the head. Less available platinum from time spent (barring extreme luck on ultra rare drops) = more revenue for the RMT'ers. Hence the reason they were unclassically nerfed. Why am I the only one who can see this. You fill in the blanks.
