Diamond has Vulak fists, abashi and shroud.

If a monk doesn't have shroud they aren't close to BiS.

I have the VP staff, I would still bid all my DKP and trade in staff to get Necro a 10th ring.

VP Staff has a stupidly long cast time (16.5), slowly builds and requires a target/eye (which requires you not have a pet). Don't get me wrong, I love the item. But 10th Ring is more valuable.

A level 60 necromancer when sitting loses 14 HP a tick if Iksar (if not Iksar, just reroll). With Z Heart (5) and 10th Ring (10) you can completely negate Demi Lich HP loss. Which is huge. Add in Dain Belt (2), Chardok SWC (2) and Dozekar Boots (2) a level 60 Iksar can completely negate HP loss while standing.

Plus unlike prenerf Fungi it doesn't inhibit runspeed at all.

Press F1 twice and it will target your eye.

What? I was saying you either need a target (some NPC) or an eye. Summoning an eye though requires you not have a pet which can be annoying. Many times you want to staff something you already have a pet and you don't have any NPCs near you to click the staff on without having to deal with killing them.

Just a lot easier to simply not lose HP by having enough regen items.

Yeah, but what scenarios actually involve this?

I can think of a few but for me, mostly, Mischief. Many mobs use up most if not all of your mana so there's some med time between.

I need a pet to tank while I stack my DoTs before I end up tap tanking the end of a mob. I don't want to kill him to summon an eye and tap it. I don't want to deal with finding a scrub mob out in the forest to staff that I then have to root and kill. I also am not a fan of using staff to regen and then having to FD for the duration of the DoT losing out on sit regen and meditate in the process.

As a result being able to just sit and med with max mana regen and not lose any HP in the process would be superb.

I guess I just don't feel like farming mischief halflings solo a few minutes faster is a key metric of Necromancer gearing. Especially when there are only 2 worth really worth killing and they respawn every 72 minutes.

A necromancer gets 50 mana/tick with Demilich, so that means only 6 minutes to completely med up. Starting from full HP is a loss of 840 HP, which would be almost completely recovered by one Touch of Night (would require +400 mana in gear) or a Manaskin.

Even if we accept your tactics and scenario, FT5 enables you to tap back 8 HP per tick or so with Touch of Night, so it's hardly worse.

And what should be the metric? Necromancers being even more efficient twitchers on raids? Lol...

A BiS Necro would of course be using FT5 Tunare range. They would just also be using 10th Ring and Vulak ring... I can see the value in KT boots over Dozekar boots, but it's an incredible thought to have enough stacking worn Regen items in Velious to outpace Demi Lich while standing. So getting every single AoB item available to a Necro would be tempting.

I just don't know of any super geared Necros. I think Xxamot is the only one with a Tunare offhand? Even still, having 10th ring generates more health over the long haul requiring you burn less time or mana on healing yourself (least efficient use of your mana).
